Position Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Director of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization. This role is pivotal in driving the technical strategy and execution of Carter’s core products, including our ad platform, data engine, and ad server. As a key member of the leadership team, you will collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that align with our mission and values.
Adtech experience is a requirement for this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Define and execute the engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with Carter’s product roadmap and business objectives.
- Team Management: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Product Development: Oversee the development and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions across our adtech stack.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Data Science, and other departments to prioritize initiatives and ensure seamless execution.
- Process Optimization: Implement and refine engineering processes, tools, and best practices to enhance productivity and product quality.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain Carter’s competitive edge.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure that all engineering practices adhere to the highest standards of data privacy and security.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the adtech or martech industry.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in building and scaling complex systems, including ad platforms, data engines, and real-time bidding systems. Tools include but are not limited to, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Kafka, Airflow, and Python.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, with a focus on mentorship and professional development.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated success in aligning engineering initiatives with business goals and driving measurable outcomes.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across diverse teams.
- Agility: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment, with a proactive and adaptable mindset.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
