Own and productize an economics and pricing decision system across inventory states, partnering with data science and engineering to produce daily, auditable pricing recommendations that improve margin and capital efficiency. Lead experimentation, governance, and explainability for pricing, markdowns, and liquidation decisions.
CSC Generation is the AI-native holding company re-engineering omni-channel retail. We acquire iconic brands and transform them with Genesis—our operating platform unifying a Data Fabric, Automation Engine, proprietary tools, and shared services—to modernize operations, elevate customer experience, and expand margins.
With $1B+ in revenue across 13 brands, our portfolio includes Sur La Table, Backcountry, One Kings Lane, and more—premier home and outdoor banners that double as real-world innovation hubs. CSC Generation continues to grow through M&A, revitalizing companies with strong brand recognition and loyal customers.
CSC Generation is building an internal economics and pricing decision system to improve cash recovery, margin, and capital efficiency across closed-out, at-risk, and healthy inventory.
This role is the single-threaded owner of that system.
You’ll operate at the intersection of pricing, inventory, finance, data science, and engineering — turning high uncertainty into structured decisions that run daily and move real dollars.
This is not a pure analytics or engineering role. It’s a product-ownership and economics leadership role.
What you get to do
- Own the economic framework behind pricing and inventory disposition (contribution margin, holding cost, option value).
- Define and evolve the Bleeder / At-Risk / Healthy inventory classification and policies.
- Lead structured research and experimentation in ambiguous, low-signal environments.
- Partner with data science on time-to-sell, demand, and elasticity models — pushing for interpretability and actionability.
- Use LLMs pragmatically to accelerate hypothesis generation, feature ideation, matching, and model evaluation (with guardrails).
- Partner with engineering to productionize daily decisioning, guardrails, monitoring, and overrides.
- Establish trust through explainable recommendations, governance, and post-mortems.
- Apply formal reasoning where useful (constraints, invariants, checkable rationales) to ensure decisions are valid and auditable.
What you bring
- 8+ years in pricing, inventory, revenue management, marketplace economics, or applied data science in retail/e-commerce.
- Proven ability to create clarity and momentum in high-uncertainty problem spaces.
- Strong command of unit economics and expected-value thinking.
- Experience influencing or owning systems that drive daily financial decisions.
- Comfort working across data science, engineering, merchandising, and finance.
- Experience with clearance / markdown optimization or liquidation.
- Familiarity with hazard models, demand modeling, or experimentation.
- Hands-on experience using LLMs in analytics or decision systems.
- Background in formal logic, constraint systems, or verification-style thinking.
