About the Role

BlackRock SMA Solutions empowers clients to customize portfolios for tax efficiency, values alignment, and unique investment exposures across direct indexing, fixed income, active equity, and multi-asset strategies. We serve a diverse client base from wealth advisors and family offices to endowments and foundations. As we continue expanding globally, we're seeking a Director of Performance to lead a team tasked with calculating and generating monthly performance statements and composites, as well as answering and troubleshooting any performance questions across different asset classes including fix income, equities, ETF, mutual funds, long short, and options. 

Ideal candidates must have excellent problem-solving skills, an intimate knowledge of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) policies, a strong grasp of performance concepts across different asset classes, experience in long short strategies, and a track record of managing cross functional teams

Responsibilities

•                    Manage a team of two individuals tasked with the monthly performance and composite calculation, review, and statement generation process. This includes ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting across various asset classes such as fixed income, equities, ETFs, mutual funds, long-short strategies, and options.

•                    Provide oversight for Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) compliance and leading the annual GIPS verification process to ensure industry-standard reporting.

•                    Optimize the current process for long short performance calculations.

•                    Acting as a resource for other investment operations team members, providing guidance and expertise on performance concepts and operational best practices.

•                    Lead projects to streamline operations, automate processes, and reduce errors.

•                    Handling various internal and external client inquiries and requests related to performance reporting.

•                    Actively contribute to SMA operations agenda and any firm-wide initiatives.

•                    Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 

•                    Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in business, math, finance or related fields

•                    10+ years of experience in calculating performance for various asset classes at an investment management firm.

•                    Intimate knowledge of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) policies

•                    Knowledge of Salesforce CRM, Advent APX, Aladdin, Investcloud APL and Sylvan performance system is a plus.

•                    Track record of building teams to support operational processes.

•                    Proven ability to build strong relationships with senior management, key clients, and internal/external stakeholders (e.g. Portfolio Managers, Custodians, Brokers)

•                    Exceptional attention to detail and problem solving abilities

•                    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot table, formula driven data scrubbing, VBA) is a plus

•                    Ability to operate/prioritize effectively and adhere to tight deadlines

•                    Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances

For Sausalito, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$194,000.00 - USD$270,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance. For Princeton, NJ Only the salary range for this position is USD$184,000.00 - USD$250,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
