The Director of Engineering is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of all electrical and mechanical aspects of the CyrusOne datacenters. This leader will exemplify advanced knowledge of building code, national electric codes, and will maintain the organizational standards on building facility regulations.

Essential Functions: 

  • Builds and maintains effective communication and relationships with management team, vendors, and peers. 

  • Follows all OSHA, safety, and environmental programs, including training and certification as required to maintain compliance. 

  • Provide value-added expertise in engineering subject and project leadership. 

  • Perform as top technical authority for opportunities and issues related to Tactical Solutions. 

  • Develop competitive differentiation by ensuring team has best-in-class technical talent to innovate, help win business and solve challenging problems. 

  • Provide execution oversight for important research, development, test and evaluation efforts. 

  • Provide resources, technical guidance and budget accountability to support contracted and IR&D activities. 

  • Develop and manage multi-year product line roadmap and strategy in collaborative, multi-function, team environment. 

  • Represent engineering team in product development requirements and creation of schedules and budgets. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • 8-10 years experience in engineering. 

  • Prior experience leading a team or managing a function of an orgnaization. 

  • Ability to read/comprehend architectural, plumbing, electrical and mechanical drawings. 

  • Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent responsibilities and meet deadlines. 

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Relevant work experience may be substituted for this requirement. 

 

Certification/Licenses: 

  • N/A 

 

Physical and mental requirements:  

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone  and keyboard. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work 

  • Light to moderate lifting is required 

  • Ability to uphold the stress of traveling 

 

Work environment: 

  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). 

  • Ability to work in a confined area.
