Job Summary

We’re looking for someone to lead cybersecurity across our OT environments and managed services. This role sits at the intersection of OT engineering, cybersecurity, MSS, and SOC operations. You’ll be responsible for setting directions, tightening execution, and making sure what we say we do show up in how we operate day to day. This is a hands-on leadership role not just strategy but driving outcomes across teams and clients.

What You’ll Own

  • OT + Cybersecurity
    • Lead security across SCADA, EMS, and plant networks
    • Work with engineering teams on architecture, hardening, and remote access
    • Make sure controls are practical and work in operations
  • MSS & SOC
    • Oversee MSS delivery and SOC operations (24/7 monitoring, escalation, response)
    • Improve how we detect, triage, and respond, less noise, more signal
    • Drive consistency across sites and client
  • NERC CIP & Compliance
    • Own CIP alignment across applicable environments (CIP-003 through CIP-013)
    • Support audits, evidence, and remediation
    • Make sure compliance isn’t just paperwork, it reflects reality
  • Incident Response & Risk
    • Lead response for incidents impacting OT or client environments
    • Set clear thresholds, playbooks, and escalation paths
    • Keep risk grounded in operations, not just theory
  • Client & Stakeholder Alignment
    • Work directly with clients on security posture, issues, and expectations
    • Translate technical issues into clear decisions and actions
    • Support growth, new sites, new portfolios, new services
  • Team & Execution
    • Lead and develop the MSS, SOC, and OT security teams
    • Set expectations on how we communicate, respond, and deliver
    • Remove blockers across access, tooling, and clarity, so the team can execute effectively

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in OT security (SCADA, ICS, energy environments)
  • Solid experience with MSS and/or SOC operations
  • Working knowledge of NERC CIP and how it applies in practice
  • Experience handling real incidents, not just tabletop exercises
  • Comfortable operating across engineering, security, and operations teams
  • Able to push for better outcomes without overcomplicating things

Experience & Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with a strong focus on OT / ICS environments
  • 3+ years leading teams or programs across cybersecurity, OT, or operations
  • Hands-on experience with OT systems (SCADA, ICS, plant networks) in an operational environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience in renewables (solar, wind, BESS)
  • Background working with clients (not just internal teams)
  • Certifications like CISSP, GICSP, or similar

What Success Looks Like

  • Fewer gaps between what we say and what we do
  • Stronger, more consistent SOC and MSS execution
  • Clear ownership and accountability across teams
  • Clients trust how we operate, not just what we promise

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
