We combine strategic insight, cultural awareness, and exceptional creative to deliver work that drives growth and builds lasting brand equity.

The Role

We’re seeking a Director of Creative to lead Modern Agency’s creative vision and help shape the next chapter of our growth. This senior leadership role is ideal for a seasoned creative leader who can operate at the highest level—overseeing large-scale productions, brand campaigns, and content strategies while ensuring the work drives measurable business outcomes.

This isn’t just about big ideas; it’s about knowing how to make them perform. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our creative not only elevates brands visually but also resonates across digital platforms like Meta, TikTok, and YouTube to drive growth.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team, inspire best-in-class creative, and serve as a trusted partner to senior clients—including those at the helm of high-profile and celebrity-backed brands.

What You’ll Do
  • Set and drive the creative vision for Modern Agency and its portfolio of high-growth brands.
  • Lead concept development and oversee production of premium content, including brand campaigns, commercials, photoshoots, and social-first activations.
  • Apply deep knowledge of growth marketing and performance creative to ensure all content is optimized for paid social platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with strategy and media teams to align creative work with brand positioning and business objectives.
  • Guide the full production process—working with directors, photographers, stylists, and other partners to deliver exceptional results.
  • Present creative concepts and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders with clarity and authority.
  • Build scalable systems and processes to support high-quality, high-volume content production.
  • Mentor and grow a multidisciplinary creative team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Stay attuned to trends in culture, design, and platform innovation to keep Modern at the forefront of the industry.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
  • 6+ years of creative experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role at an agency or brand.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale campaigns and productions for premium or culturally relevant brands.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing elevated creative work and digital content that drives measurable results.
  • Expertise in growth marketing principles and how to craft creative that performs on paid social platforms.
  • Track record of managing complex productions and collaborating with a range of creative and strategic partners.
  • Exceptional storytelling, communication, and presentation skills; able to inspire confidence with both clients and internal teams.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to connect creative vision to broader business objectives.
  • Skilled at building, mentoring, and scaling multidisciplinary teams.
Benefits
Why Modern Agency
  • Work with some of today’s most exciting and culturally relevant brands, including high-profile and celebrity-backed ventures.
  • Join a team that values creativity, collaboration, and measurable results.
  • Competitive benefits package including unlimited PTO, medical/dental/vision coverage, and wellness programs.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, people-first culture where creativity and strategy go hand in hand.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
