ABOUT THE TEAM

We are seeking an exceptional Director, Cost Accounting to lead our cost accounting function. This role is critical to driving accuracy, insight, and control across our development, manufacturing, and production operations. Reporting to the Controller, the Director will manage a globally distributed team supporting each of Anduril’s significant facilities.

The Director will ensure consistent and compliant application of Anduril’s standard costing methodology. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to support hyper growth

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of cost accountants and analysts supporting multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Oversee and continuously improve standard costing practices to ensure accurate product costing, variance analysis, and margin reporting.
  • Own the Company’s cost accounting close process, including cost roll-ups, variance analysis, absorption reporting, and reconciliations of inventory and work-in-process.
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal controls to strengthen financial accuracy and compliance; identify and remediate control deficiencies as needed.
  • Lead and administer physical and cycle count programs across all sites, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper valuation of inventory.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on all cost accounting and inventory-related matters during the annual financial statement audit.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to analyze manufacturing performance, cost drivers, and production efficiency opportunities.
  • Support pricing, cost proposal, and audit requirements related to U.S. government contracts (FAR/CAS).
  • Play a key role in acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integration, ensuring new entities align with Company cost accounting policies and systems.
  • Contribute to IPO readiness initiatives, including audit preparation, systems scalability, and establishment of SOX-compliant financial controls.
  • Provide the Controller and executive leadership with insightful cost analyses and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Lead the cost accounting team with a continuous improvement mindset, prioritizing automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in all financial processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in manufacturing, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience with standard costing in complex, low-volume, high-dollar manufacturing environments, with ability to grow into a high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. government contracting cost principles (FAR/CAS).
  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting acquisition due diligence and integration.
  • Expertise in designing and maintaining effective internal controls and supporting external audits.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar) and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-site teams, communicate effectively across functions, and influence senior leadership.
  • Experience in a privately held company preparing for an IPO is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.
US Salary Range
$191,000$253,000 USD

 

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
