Director, Corporate Development
About the team and the role:
Join eBay's dynamic Corporate Development team, where we orchestrate strategic acquisitions and investments to align with eBay’s overarching business objectives! The Deal Captain acts as a critical player, identifying prospective targets, shaping negotiations, and driving to closure while collaborating with our M&A Integration team. This role offers remarkable exposure across eBay, serving as a springboard to broader operational leadership roles. Our team thrives on intellectual honesty and collaboration, propelling eBay’s strategic vision in the innovative e-commerce landscape!
What you will accomplish:
- Lead strategic M&A and investment transactions, influencing eBay's growth and market positioning through build, buy, and partner paths.
- Cultivate cross-functional relationships, enabling flawless transaction execution alongside key strategic partners.
- Develop executive-ready presentations, showcasing strategic framing and insightful recommendations.
- Conduct detailed due diligence and valuation analyses, shaping informed decision-making dynamics.
- Drive project management perfection, ensuring high-impact outcomes, and strategic alignment.
- Adopt a culture of learning and growth, leveraging curiosity to continuously refine deal-making expertise.
What you will bring:
- The candidate should have at least ten years of M&A / Corporate Development experience running acquisition and investment transactions. Some of a candidate’s experience may be drawn from advisory positions in investment banking, venture capital, legal or consulting firms.
- Ability to operate in a high-tech, fast-paced environment, demonstrating outstanding problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in negotiation and quantitative analysis, underpinned by intellectual honesty and creative solution-finding.
- Outstanding communication skills, encouraging collaboration across functional teams to achieve shared goals.
- Familiarity with consumer internet or e-commerce business models, ideally with experience using eBay's platform.
- Readiness to work eBay's hybrid model with 3 days a week in the San Jose, CA, corporate headquarters.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$205,600 - $274,500Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
