About the role:

The Samsara Corporate Development team focuses on M&A, corporate strategy, and venture investments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with key executives and cross-functional stakeholders to drive Samsara’s inorganic growth (via M&A and investments). You will work directly with the VP of Corporate Development and Investor Relations. The role will mirror the work found at top venture capital / private equity firms, investment banks, and strategy consulting firms. Key responsibilities include: evaluating and executing strategic M&A, investing in early-stage ventures, designing and conducting qualitative and quantitative research and analyses, and presenting findings to corporate leadership. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, comfortable with undefined processes and building zero to one, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable thinking in front of senior leadership. This is a highly visible role in the organization involving close partnership with senior business leaders across Samsara.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US except Alaska, Austin Metro, Boulder Metro, California, Chicago Metro, Connecticut, Dallas Metro, Denver Metro, Houston Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Seattle Metro, and Washington, D.C.

In this role, you will: 
  • Lead all aspects of M&A and Venture deal execution, including: sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, and negotiations
  • Analyze and understand Samsara’s strategic objectives, as well as industry trends, to identify, recommend, and pursue companies/technologies that can meet those objectives
  • Lead special projects that deliver impact across the company - requires zero to one building
  • Build relationships with internal cross-functional teams, including: product management, engineering, finance, and legal functions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a diverse set of external parties - CEOs, bankers, venture capitalists, and industry thought leaders
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
  • Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 10+ years of experience in a mix of corporate development, investment banking, venture capital, and private equity
  • Proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable with undefined processes and building zero to one
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, fluency in performing rigorous financial, valuation, and other quantitative analyses
  • Demonstrated experience influencing and communicating effectively across all levels and teams across the organization
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology with an acumen to engage with product and engineering leaders on tech roadmaps
  • Proficiency in evaluating, negotiating, and executing deals and comfortable jumping into the scouting and integration processes

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles. For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.

We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
$132,440$189,200 USD
