This leader will set the communications strategy and operating priorities, advise executive leadership, shape the company narrative, and build scalable programs that strengthen employee understanding, company reputation, and business outcomes. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and requires strong judgment, excellent writing, and the ability to influence across the organization.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the General Counsel.

You’ll Get To…

  • Develop and maintain a consistent narrative that works across both consumer and B2B audiences
  • Serve as the primary communications advisor to the executive team and help prepare leadership for media, speaking, and investor-facing engagements
  • Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and producers across tech, business, and vertical press
  • Drive proactive story placement and manage inbound opportunities
  • Draft press materials including releases, media pitches, briefings, and contributed articles
  • Develop strategy and execute Communications initiatives in select jurisdictions outside the United States
  • Manage reactive and crisis communications
  • Partner closely with Product and Marketing to develop launch plans for new features, products, brand campaigns, and company milestones
  • Translate technical and product information into clear, newsworthy narratives for diverse audiences
  • Support leadership communications, including internal announcements and external thought leadership
  • Plan and execute quarterly company All Hands meetings
  • Develop an internal communications cadence that keeps employees informed and engaged
  • Manage company intranet content and presentation
  • Manage agency relationships and external vendors as needed
  • Track and report on communications KPIs and coverage metrics
Who We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of communications experience, with meaningful time in-house at a technology company (agency experience a plus)
  • Proven ability to own a communications function independently, ideally at a high-growth company
  • Experience communicating across both consumer and B2B audiences
  • Strong media relationships in tech, business and consumer press, with a track record of earned coverage
  • Excellent writer and editor with the ability to make complex technical and business topics clear, compelling, and accessible
  • Comfortable operating at the strategic level while still being willing to draft a pitch, prep a spokesperson, or update a press kit yourself
  • Experience supporting executive communications and thought leadership programs
  • Strong judgment and calm decision-making under pressure, including the ability to make recommendations with incomplete information.
  • Team player who collaborates naturally across functions without needing a formal mandate
Benefits & Perks

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
