About This Role
The Director, Cloud Operations is responsible for managing, operating, and enhancing our cloud environments on AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring optimal scalability, security, reliability, and performance in alignment with our growth objectives. The Director will oversee daily operational functions, including infrastructure monitoring, incident management, resource provisioning, cost optimization, and compliance. This role will collaborate closely with architecture, engineering, and security teams to drive continuous improvement, streamline operational efficiencies, and maintain high standards for cloud infrastructure operations.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps and MLOps engineers, fostering professional growth and ensuring operational excellence.
- Design, implement, and oversee cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS and GCP.
- Lead infrastructure strategy, planning, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Ensure robust security practices and compliance across cloud environments.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform.
- Support software engineering teams by enabling efficient and reliable CI/CD pipelines.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Proactively monitor systems, manage incidents, and resolve infrastructure issues promptly.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation on infrastructure design, policies, and procedures.
- Provide support for development tools including GitLab, Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), and other related tools.
- Oversee and manage integrations with Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions utilizing Okta, ensuring secure and seamless access management across applications.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Expert level knowledge of AWS and Google cloud infrastructures
- Experience required in setting up and managing networking within AWS and GCP, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing, and network peering.
- 7+ years of experience managing cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS and/or GCP.
- Experience in VPN setup and management across AWS and GCP, including site-to-site and client VPN configurations.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically Terraform.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD processes and associated tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Extensive hands-on experience with SSO solutions, especially Okta or Auth0, including administration, integration, and management.
- Familiarity with cloud security standards and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect, etc.).
- Experience working in fast-paced startups or agile development environments.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, etc.).
- Experience with multi-cloud infrastructure and support (AWS and GCP)
