General Summary:
This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of data-driven marketing strategies for retail clients, with a primary focus on email and omnichannel programs that drive customer engagement, retention, and revenue growth. The Director of Client Strategy serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to clients, translating business objectives into actionable marketing roadmaps, personalization strategies, and measurable outcomes.
This role collaborates closely with Client Services, Creative, Analytics, and Sales teams to deliver integrated, performance-driven solutions. The Director provides consultative leadership, strategic insight, and thought leadership to strengthen client relationships, deliver measurable results, and identify opportunities for account growth.
Essential Job Functions: *
- Develop and lead comprehensive retail email and omnichannel marketing strategies aligned with client business and revenue goals
- Conduct client discovery sessions, assessments, and requirements gathering to identify challenges, opportunities, and strategic priorities
- Translate insights into strategic roadmaps, implementation plans, and measurable performance objectives
- Serve as the primary strategic advisor and consultative partner to assigned clients, building trusted, long-term relationships
- Design and evolve customer journeys that prioritize personalization, localization, and seamless experiences across channels
- Create data-driven segmentation, targeting, and contact strategies to improve engagement, retention, and lifetime value
- Develop creative briefs that align strategic direction with compelling creative execution and personalized content
- Lead campaign analytics, testing, and “test and learn” initiatives to optimize performance and return on investment
- Analyze complex datasets to generate actionable insights and inform continuous optimization
- Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, privacy considerations, and best practices in retail and omnichannel marketing
- Introduce new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance client performance and agency capabilities
- Collaborate closely with Client Services, Creative, Analytics, and Production teams to ensure cohesive strategy and execution
- Support business development efforts by contributing strategic insight to proposals, pitches, and growth opportunities
- Represent the organization through thought leadership activities including case studies, presentations, and industry events

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of email marketing, lifecycle marketing, and omnichannel retail strategies
- Expertise in customer segmentation, personalization, and data-driven marketing approaches
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations
- Strong strategic thinking and consultative problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to simplify complex concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and remote teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools
- Self-directed with strong accountability and responsiveness in a remote work environment
Education, Experience, and Certification: *
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of enterprise-level professional experience required
- 3–5 years of experience in direct marketing strategy, analytics, consulting, or client strategy roles within an agency, media, or client environment
- 3+ years of experience in retail email marketing with demonstrated success developing strategy and optimization programs
- Experience with omnichannel marketing strategies preferred
- Willingness to travel for client engagements as needed
