Job Description

The successful candidate will oversee an In-House legal team. As an insurance coverage practice lead the leader will set the vision and strategy for one countrywide centralized attorney practice team focused on a specific coverage (for example but not limited to Casualty - Bodily Injury (BI), Home, Catastrophe). The leader will manage field leaders and a team of insurance defense lawyers providing legal representation to Allstate insureds and/or to the Allstate Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. This leader will be responsible for overseeing litigation cross this centralized team. Attorney’s by coverage team will manage cases from beginning to end, preparing legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs and negotiating settlements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops vision and strategic plan for centralized coverage team
  • Oversees representation and case management for a specific coverage category
  • Manage a multi-million dollar budget for 1 centralized coverage team (representing entire country)
  • Accountable for cross business partnership with Claims driving operational excellence and efficiencies with a focus on customer experience and cost
  • Establish Service Level Agreements with business partners
  • Collaboration and matrixed working team with support staff practice (paralegals and legal administration)
  • Partner with Legal Operations team to build and maintain innovative practices to drive growth and operational excellence (process design/standards, technology, data, outside counsel, assignment)
  • Monitor allocated legal expenses, track factors that drive variations, and collaborate with claims clients regarding status of contributing factors
  • Monitor and review new laws, regulations, and case law; identify and counsel business unit about relevant issues; collaborate with other areas of L&R department
  • Accountable for draft, review, and/or negotiation of complex matters and agreements
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This job has supervisory duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 4 year Bachelors Degree (Required)
  • Juris Doctor (Required)
  • 12 or more years of experience (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • This role requires a license in good standing to practice in the United States.

Compensation offered for this role is $200,000.00 - 269,000.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
