Your career is a testament to your diverse experiences, community involvement, and the valuable lessons you've learned along the way. You are more than just your resume; you are a reflection of your achievements, the knowledge you've gained, and the personal interests that shape who you are.

Position Overview

Zelis is seeking a commercially minded, data-driven leader to serve as our Director, Business Intelligence & Commercial Data Strategy. This role is pivotal to shaping how we use data to drive smarter selling, accelerate growth, and scale performance across our commercial organization. You will partner closely with the SVP of Revenue Operations and cross-functional leaders to design and operationalize a modern data strategy that empowers Sales leadership with real-time, actionable insights.
We’re looking for someone who has worked directly in or with Sales teams—someone who understands the rhythm of the sales process, can identify gaps in performance, and knows how to turn data into strategic advantage. You will be accountable for building out our commercial reporting architecture, owning the visualization strategy (Tableau, Power BI, Sigma), and ensuring the integrity of data flowing from CRM (Salesforce) and our Snowflake environment. The ideal candidate combines technical mastery with business acumen and has a proven ability to influence senior leaders.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Intelligence Strategy

  • Act as the strategic owner of Sales and Commercial performance analytics across the organization.

  • Build, maintain, and evolve high-impact dashboards and visualizations that highlight sales performance, pipeline trends, forecast accuracy, win/loss analysis, and rep productivity.

  • Align with sales leadership to uncover growth opportunities and shape go-to-market decisions using data.

  • Create intuitive self-service tools for Sales leaders to explore performance metrics and operational KPIs.

Cross-Functional Data Leadership

  • Serve as the primary data and reporting liaison between Sales, Finance, Product, Technology, and Corporate IT.

  • Ensure Snowflake data architecture aligns with Salesforce and RevOps needs—supporting object, fact, and dimension table design.

  • Establish strong partnerships with internal data teams to ensure consistency, availability, and clarity of commercial data assets.

  • Translate ambiguous business needs into clearly defined data requirements and reporting specifications.

Sales Process Optimization

  • Drive initiatives that reduce sales forecasting errors and improve the accuracy of pipeline and revenue projections.

  • Identify performance gaps in the sales funnel and implement targeted solutions through analytics and enablement insights.

  • Bring innovative approaches to commercial data storytelling—using your creativity to guide decision-making at the executive level.

What You’ll Bring to Zelis

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in business intelligence, data strategy, or revenue operations—preferably in a B2B technology or sales-focused environment.

  • Proven background working within or closely with sales teams, understanding sales processes, funnels, quotas, and forecasting models.

  • Advanced skills in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Sigma) and ability to create compelling, interactive dashboards.

  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce.com, SQL, Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, and scripting languages (Python preferred).

  • Exceptional Excel skills, including advanced formulas, macros, and pivot tables.

  • Strong analytical mindset with an ability to synthesize complex data into simple narratives for non-technical audiences.

  • Comfortable presenting to and advising senior executives; known for clarity, influence, and strategic thinking.

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Data Science, Technology, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
