Yahoo is composed of organizations, each led by a GM, driving key product lines. This role is within the Yahoo Mail group, which includes its flagship product, Yahoo Mail. You will be starting on offense; the product line (4.5+ star apps & responsive web experiences), business, and tech (modern front-end stacks with significant backend re-architecture just beginning) provide a healthy start, with lots of upside to realize.  Now, we need you to be a key part of our next chapter -  embarking on the mission to create the best consumer-focused platform for running the “business of life,” in email and beyond. This role will be an individual contributor reporting directly to the Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships, Yahoo Mail.

About the role:

  • As an experienced Business Development professional, we would like you to bring your strategic, creative and negotiating  expertise to our organization

  • The primary metrics of success for this role are the inorganic growth of daily active users (DAU), revenue and EBITDA through both creative distribution deals as well as partnerships that create a more compelling product offering

  • Work with Product, Strategy, Engineering, and other leaders to understand priorities and roadmaps, then build the strategy for programs with new partner organizations

  • Build joint program plans with our partners, including evaluation frameworks and end-to-end GTM plans with a robust set of goals, success metrics, and governance

  • Partner with our legal team to develop custom partnership agreements and repeatable templates to grow to Yahoo Mail partnerships

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and implementing partnership deals and initiatives for the Yahoo Mail

  • Lead the negotiation and execution of strategic partnerships to achieve Mail’s goals

  • You will focus on business development while partnering closely with product, engineering, product marketing, legal, and executive leadership to implement partner deals aligned with Yahoo Mail’s critical initiatives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop competitive proposals and close high-impact deals

  • Sign deals with the responsibility to drive incremental growth through product partnerships

  • Become an essential business thought partner to the Yahoo Mail product, engineering, and product marketing organizations

  • Report regularly to Mail leadership on Business Development progress, challenges, and opportunities

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field; MBA preferred

  • 7+ years in a Business Development role, working with both public and private companies

  • Domain experience in consumer internet, telecom, software, and/or SaaS companies would be a distinct advantage

  • Technology, investment banking or management consulting experience is valued 

  • Strong negotiation skills and demonstrable experience closing complex deals and can articulate their impact to the business

  • Highly effective communicator with a proven track record of driving consensus both internally and with external partners; proficient in leading discussions around complex business decisions with executive leadership, and telling clear stories to partners both verbally and with impeccable supporting material

  • Demonstrated ability to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is required to move the needle

  • Take initiative with a high degree of independence to identify and evaluate new business opportunities, build partnership strategy, assess market opportunity / competitive landscape, and develop financial / business models

  • Build high-trust relationships and a network of peers to gain market intelligence, and negotiate complex legal agreements with large, strategic partners

The compensation for this position ranges from $140,890.00 - $306,705.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
