About Consumer Edge

Consumer Edge runs a retail data network spanning grocery and convenience stores, with item-level purchase insights across tens of millions of shoppers. We help brands and agencies turn those insights into targeted audiences and smarter marketing.

About the role

We're hiring an Audience Strategist to build the shopper audiences brands and agencies buy, using AI to do the querying. You'll take a client brief or RFP, figure out exactly the audience they need at the right scale, build it with AI tools on our data, and package it so our account managers and business development team can win the business.

What you'll do

  • Turn briefs into audiences. Translate RFPs and requests from our account managers and business development managers into clear audience definitions. Build with AI tools, review queries and counts, and adjust levers like lookback windows, purchase frequency, and category breadth to reach the right scale without losing precision.
  • Build lookalike audiences. Extend seed audiences to similar shoppers using in-house models or LiveRamp and DSP tools, balancing reach and similarity and checking how expansions hold up in campaign results.
  • Own the taxonomy. Know our data dictionary and audience taxonomy inside out, keep custom and syndicated audiences consistent, build richer segments across data sources, and recommend which syndicated segments to add, cut, or redefine.
  • Deliver and tell the story. Activate audiences through LiveRamp and other partners, create client-facing recommendations, and join client calls, pitches, and RFP responses as the audience expert.
  • Track what's working. Monitor activation, usage, and revenue by audience, platform, agency, and brand, and spot trends that point to new audiences clients will value.
  • Shape the AI workflow. Partner with engineering and product to improve the AI tools the team uses, working toward an AI agent that builds audiences.

What you'll bring

  • 7+ years in ad tech, retail media, or data marketplaces, in audience, product, or customer success roles
  • Hands-on experience building audience segments for activation, and familiarity with LiveRamp, DSPs, and marketplaces
  • Proven experience creating lookalike audiences from seed segments, through modeled extensions or platform tools such as LiveRamp and The Trade Desk
  • A strong feel for how audiences are defined and sized, and how to trade precision for scale
  • Enough data skill to review and edit AI-generated queries, sanity-check counts, and fix audience definitions
  • Strong storytelling and client presentation skills
  • Comfort using AI tools as an everyday part of your work

Nice to have

  • SQL or data warehouse experience
  • CPG, grocery, or convenience-store experience
  • Background at a CPG purchase-data or shopper-audience company, a retail media network), or an audience and identity provider
  • Exposure to campaign measurement and attribution

What success looks like

  • First 90 days: Learn our data and taxonomy, and build client audiences with AI alongside the team.
  • By month 6: Own audience delivery end to end, significantly reduce turnaround time, and be the go-to audience expert for our account managers and business development managers.
  • Ongoing: Grow the audience business through better segments, faster turnaround, and an AI workflow that scales.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
