Job Summary:

The Director of Analytics leverages Surescripts’ rich data to generate actionable insights, support product development, and engage externally with clients and partners across the healthcare ecosystem. The Director of Analytics leads a high-performing team responsible for descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. This position serves as a client-facing 'player-coach,' combining expert leadership and communication skills with direct contribution to analytics projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and lead analytics initiatives that advance product development and sales enablement for all Surescripts solutions, partnering with product and sales teams to craft compelling data-driven narratives, demonstrate value to prospective clients, and tailor insights to diverse stakeholder needs.

  • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing analytics team, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

  • Develop and deliver advanced analytics solutions, including descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models leveraging large-scale healthcare data to generate high-impact insights

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design, implement, and evaluate analytics that inform, enhance, and differentiate Surescripts’ offerings.

  • Strengthen Surescripts’ Analytics Engineering capabilities by partnering with data science, data engineering and BI teams to create scalable, well‑modeled, transformation‑ready data assets (e.g., curated marts, semantic layers, and reusable pipelines) that accelerate analysis and improve data accessibility across the organization.

  • Represent Surescripts’ analytics capabilities in client-facing settings, supporting sales enablement, explaining methodologies and findings, and communicating insights to customers and external partners with clarity and credibility.

  • Uphold rigorous and analytic standards, ensuring transparency, reproducibility, integrity, and high trust of insights delivered both internally and externally.

Analytics Focus Areas

  • Analyze healthcare industry trends and generate actionable insights with emphasis on pharmacy operations, pharmacy benefit management, medication utilization patterns, and prior authorization workflows- supporting improved clinical, operational, and economic outcomes across the healthcare ecosystem.

  • Examine healthcare provider and patient interactions to identify opportunities to enhance care quality, streamline workflows, and improve engagement across points of care.

  • Evaluate the economic impact of medication decisions, including adherence utilization patterns, and therapy affordability to guide stakeholders in optimizing quality and access.

  • Deliver targeted insights to key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical manufacturers, health plans, health systems, PBMs, EHRs, and other industry partners, tailoring analyses to their unique market dynamics, strategic priorities, and decisions.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of related, progressive experience in advanced analytics roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare analytics, ideally within life sciences, health plans, or PBMs.

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Looker).

  • Experience with large-scale healthcare data sets is essential. 

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex analytics into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated success in presenting to external clients and stakeholders.

  • Skilled in prioritizing, resource deployment, and managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality results.

  • Deep understanding of healthcare market dynamics, medication workflows, and the needs of diverse stakeholders across the healthcare continuum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD) in a relevant field

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $183,000 - $223,600 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
