Position Overview

The Americas Advisory Compliance team is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Compliance professional to support, maintain, and enhance BlackRock’s Private Markets compliance program, with a focus on supporting private equity and infrastructure teams. The compliance program is critical infrastructure to support BlackRock’s business objective of expanding its presence in private markets, including through the recent acquisition of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). The role includes working on the continued integration of GIP, oversight of key program components (e.g., investment allocation, fees and expenses, conflicts) and contributing to the enhancement of compliance testing and monitoring protocols. The successful candidate will interact regularly with various BlackRock functions across the globe including investment, legal, and other compliance and business support functions, while responding to business inquiries and progressing business initiatives. The role may also require the individual to assist with other centralized compliance functions that are administered by the Americas Advisory team in addition to participating in project work as it arises.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as point of contact for private markets business inquiries related to compliance matters, including conflicts of interest, marketing and allocations
  • Support the post-acquisition integration of GIP’s compliance program with BlackRock
  • Maintain legacy GIP global compliance program pending integration, including: testing and monitoring program, regulatory filings (including Forms ADV and PF), risk assessments, and annual compliance reviews across jurisdictions
  • Identify, develop and implement process, practice and policy improvement initiatives, including with respect to new regulations or practices
  • Participate in efforts with respect to applicable regulatory examinations/inspections and internal audits
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of compliance training and education programs as needed
  • Prepare management information reporting
  • Work on other Compliance related ad-hoc projects as needed

Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • ~10 years’ experience with regulatory compliance matters of a registered investment adviser (private equity strongly preferred)
  • Understanding of Investment Advisers Act of 1940, with experience in global regulatory regimes (e.g., FCA, ASIC) a plus
  • Understanding of private equity fund structures  
  • Understanding of private equity firm operations and administration
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Legal degree not required but a plus

  • Ability to outline, execute and manage projects to completion, including as part of cross-functional working groups
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly professional
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, logically and analytically
  • Motivated with a natural inclination towards rolling up sleeves and problem solving
  • Proficient across M365 applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$173,500.00 - USD$270,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
