Overview
The Director of AI Insights and Engineering will drive innovation through AI/ML and LLM-powered solutions founded in a strong enterprise data foundation. This role is responsible for leveraging enterprise data streams for insight generation and generative AI applications. The ideal candidate will build and lead a technical team that designs and deploys AI solutions that provide actionable value to business stakeholders in pursuit of business goals within Cencora's ethical and responsible AI guidelines. Through collaboration across broader technical teams, this leader will transform insights into business value. This is a GDATS (IT) role and will report to the Senior Director of AI Platforms & Solutions within the broader Data, Analytics and AI domain at Cencora.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or another related field, or equivalent work experience
- Preferably 7+ years in Information Technology in progressive levels of responsibility and leadership
- High level understanding of several components of IT such as: Product Management, Technical Architecture, Business Analysis, Testing or Operations and Support.
- 3+ years of budgetary responsibility preferred
- Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to respond well under pressure

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the broader AI, Data & Analytics team and other key stakeholders to execute on a unified enterprise data and AI strategy that support business goals.
- Shape and prioritize a roadmap of AI initiatives to enable data consumption for AI/ML models, dashboards, chatbots, and other Data and AI products.
- Architect scalable, secure, and integrated data platforms and pipelines to embed AI and insight generation into enterprise systems and processes.
- Leverage platforms like Databricks and Cencora's GenIE framework to facilitate Generative and agent-powered insight engines to support and enhance business decision-making.
- Work with internal governance and responsible AI teams to implement robust AI governance frameworks ensuring compliance, accountability, and ethical AI practices.
- Accelerate innovation through AI/ML and LLM-powered solutions, driving automation, real-time decision-making, and operational leverage.
- Build and lead an AI team that fosters a high-performance, innovation-driven culture while mentoring on AI and data lifecycle best practices.
- Collaborate with business units and their IT partners to consult and deploy enterprise data and AI solutions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience:
- 10+ years in data engineering, architecture, or enterprise data management.
- 5+ years in leadership roles managing cross-functional data and AI initiatives.
- Proven track record of enabling enterprise AI/ML/Insights initiatives at scale.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong technical, process, and people leadership skills with experience managing technical teams.
- Intellectual curiosity and a passion for leveraging AI and emerging technologies to transform organizations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills to engage both business and technical stakeholders; Able to craft and articulate a vision for their domain that resonates and persuades.

- Technical Expertise:
- Experience with cloud platform configuration and development (Azure preferred, AWS, GCP)

- Strong knowledge of AI/ML tooling (Python, R, ML models, Azure AI Foundry) and MLOps
- Grounded in data governance, compliance (HIPAA, GDPR), and ethical AI practices.
