About the role

AI is moving fast. The gap between organizations that harness it and those that don’t is widening by the day—and our clients need a trusted guide to help them cross it. We’re looking for a Director-level AI Architect and Change Management Lead to join Embark’s growing Business Transformation practice and do exactly that.

This role is for the consultant who’s equally comfortable in a boardroom and a whiteboard session—someone who can translate the complexity of AI into clear strategy, and then make sure the humans on the other side are ready to run with it. You’ll shape how our clients adopt AI: the frameworks, the governance, the fluency-building, and the vision.

What you’ll be doing

Client advisory & AI strategy

  • Serve as a trusted AI advisor to executive and mid-level stakeholders across client organizations—translating ambiguity into clear, actionable direction.

  • Lead AI governance engagements: designing frameworks, policies, risk management protocols, responsible use standards, and executive alignment strategies that actually stick.

  • Facilitate use-case identification workshops that connect business priorities to AI opportunity—pragmatic, prioritized, and grounded in reality (not hype).

  • Help clients see beyond today’s limitations with a credible, grounded view of what emerging AI can realistically do for their business.

AI architecture & solution delivery

  • Design end-to-end AI solutions that are scalable, practical, and aligned to client business objectives—from initial concept through full deployment.

  • Build and lead proof-of-concept engagements that demonstrate AI’s value quickly, creating momentum for broader transformation initiatives.

  • Own the full delivery lifecycle of custom AI solutions—including scoping, architecture design, vendor and tool selection, build, and post-launch optimization.

  • Translate business requirements into technical AI architectures, working across data, infrastructure, and application layers to ensure solutions are production-ready.

  • Evaluate and recommend AI platforms, models, and tooling (e.g., LLMs, vector databases, orchestration frameworks, automation layers) appropriate to each client’s maturity and use case.

Change management & enablement

  • Design and deliver AI training programs that build fluency at every level—from C-suite leaders setting strategy to frontline teams doing the work.

  • Drive adoption strategies that account for organizational culture, change readiness, and the human side of transformation.

Practice leadership & market presence

  • Represent Embark at client meetings, industry events, and thought leadership opportunities to grow our profile in the AI advisory space.

  • Contribute to the development of Embark’s AI service offerings, delivery frameworks, and go-to-market positioning.

  • Support proposal development, solution scoping, and client presentations for AI-focused engagements.

  • Leverage your network to generate leads and expand our AI transformation practice.

People development

  • Mentor consultants and managers across delivery, client relationships, and career development.

  • Lead internal training on AI strategy, governance, and change management to build team capability.

  • Foster an environment built on collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning.

To be a good fit for this role you will have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in management consulting (Big 4 or similar) or a transformation-focused role within a technology or finance organization.

  • Demonstrated experience advising executive stakeholders—CFOs, CIOs, and business unit leaders—on AI strategy, adoption, and governance.

  • Proven ability to design and facilitate workshops that translate business priorities into AI use cases and roadmaps.

  • Hands-on experience developing and delivering AI literacy and change management programs across organizational levels.

  • Strong command of the AI landscape—including generative AI, machine learning applications, and automation—and how these technologies apply within enterprise business functions.

Added bonus if you have

  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.

  • Certifications in AI, change management (e.g., Prosci), or related disciplines.

  • Experience supporting PE-backed or high-growth companies through technology and organizational transformation.

  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks, responsible AI standards, or enterprise AI risk management.

What’s in it for you

  • We pay 100% of insurance premiums on medical, dental, and vision for you AND your family.

  • Typical compensation range of $180,000–$200,000 based on experience.

  • We match 50% to 6% on our 401K.

  • Fully paid parental leave for all new parents.

  • Monthly stipend for family gym memberships.

  • Highly competitive salaries.

  • All the technology you’ll need to be successful—the most advanced software and accessories to ensure you get the job done in style.

  • Monthly team outings (think: axe throwing, a trip to the State Fair, go-kart races, etc.)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
