  • Lead the process of client discovery, market research and diligence, including guiding interviews that source clarity from clients and generate new insights from the industry
  • Drive quantitative market, company, and competitive analysis, either independently or in collaboration with junior team members, to unlock compelling insights for clients and support recommendations
  • Develop practical recommendations for strategy and clearly defined execution plans to bring said strategy to life

Collaboration & Communication

  • Foster and manage internal working team and external client relationships, delivering collaboration and productivity throughout an engagement
  • Supervise junior staff with respect to approvals around communication, prioritization of project workload and evaluation of draft output for client deliverables
  • Complete work as needed by the engagement lead on larger engagements; help direct junior team members and manage cross-client timelines accordingly
  • In partnership with project leaders, present and defend strategies and analysis to clients, seeking their input and demonstrating “sense and respond” thinking to incorporate real time feedback into recommendations especially in workshop settings

Industry Connections & Business Development

  • Support business growth opportunities with existing clients
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify potential new client opportunities, support business development and structure a bespoke approach for each engagement
  • Leverage industry network, trades and MediaLink intelligence to uncover trends and opportunities for active client assignments and future business development
  • Maintain and grow an active network in the marketplace leveraging MediaLink’s owned and sourced opportunities (i.e. events, canvassing, industry memberships) and personal outreach

Your Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in consulting or operator role within the media, marketing, advertising, or technology sectors
  • MBA desirable, but not required
  • Proven experience in applying well-developed problem-solving skills (quantitative, conceptual, analytical) and crafting original strategic recommendations with limited involvement from leadership
  • Proven track record of selling through recommendations to internal teams and/or clients; demonstrated success in turning ideas into actions
  • Fluency in media/advertising/technology industry terms and trends
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to partner across the organization to deliver engagement objectives

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
