The Director of Accounting Systems Transformation will report directly to the Sr Director, Revenue and be a critical member of the Accounting leadership team. This role will oversee one manager, and be responsible for working closely with the product, engineering and R&D teams to ensure successful implementation of large, complex accounting transformation initiatives which span across the entire Accounting Organization.  This Director will be responsible for providing strategic thought leadership across the procurement, accounting, and tax teams to drive forward medium and small scale automation initiatives to ensure our systems and processes continue to scale with our business.  This role involves analyzing existing systems, developing transformation plans, and managing the execution of projects to improve efficiency, accuracy and compliance and elevate our accounting systems infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan for accounting transformation, including system upgrades, process improvements, and automation initiatives. 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including but not limited to Product, Engineering and R&D to be the one point of contact for all large scale accounting and tax system initiatives.
  • Work cross functionally within the accounting organization to ensure alignment with the engineering team, and manage expectations accordingly.
  • Lead the implementation and integration of Blackline. 
  • Lead the roadmap for the ERP system to create a structure to support Toast’s international expansion including a multi-ledger concept.
  • Drive forward AI and other automation initiatives within the CAO organization to support streamlining and reducing manual processes.
  • Support key projects cross-functionally across Finance and more broadly across Toast including IT, Legal and Strategy. 

Requirements: 

  • 10+ years experience in project management and implementation, program management, change management, and business systems experience (including ERP implementation)
  • Experience with business process management to include process definition and end to end process mapping
  • Good understanding of general accounting concepts, processes, and terminology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required; must be comfortable connecting and communicating with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members for exceptional performance and contribution
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, bring options and provide recommendation
  • Strong knowledge of SOX requirements, including the ability to assess, develop and implement internal controls related to systems
  • Strong listening and comprehension skills, as well as the ability to develop and clearly articulate a perspective
  • Highly developed sense of accountability and follow-through with an ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and goals.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to deliver requested projects in a timely manner 

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience working for a SaaS company
  • Experience with Netsuite and Blackline

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions, if eligible), benefits, and equity (if eligible).

Pay Range
$160,000$256,000 USD
