MetrumRG is seeking an experienced professional to be the central point of accountability during  the commercial process for the Quantitative Science (QS) Services business, from initial inquiry through proposal delivery, negotiation, and close. This role serves as the commercial hub for QS opportunities, partnering with sales coordinators, scientific leaders, executive leadership, and lead generation to ensure opportunities are qualified, prioritized, and advanced efficiently while enabling each team to focus on its area of expertise.

You'll build relationships with prospective and existing clients, connecting client needs with MetrumRG's Quantitative Science expertise and helping drive our continued growth.

Selling professional services requires a consultative approach that balances relationship development, thoughtful qualification, and close collaboration with technical experts. Success in this role comes from combining strong commercial judgment with exceptional organization and taking the initiative to keep relationships, opportunities, and proposals moving forward while making sure the right people are involved at the right time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Opportunity Qualification
    • Respond promptly to inbound inquiries.
    • Conduct discovery conversations to understand client needs and qualify opportunities.
    • Evaluate opportunities against qualification criteria.
    • Recommend when to pursue, defer, or decline opportunities based on strategic fit and probability of success.
    • Ensure every opportunity has clear next steps and an accountable owner.
  • Opportunity Management
    • Guide opportunities through the commercial process in partnership with sales coordination and scientific leaders — keeping opportunities moving by removing obstacles and following up proactively.
    • Identify opportunities to expand or strengthen the proposed solution based on the client's business needs.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients throughout the sales process and following opportunity close.
    • Identify opportunities for additional work within existing client relationships through proactive account management and continual communication with key stakeholders during and after project completion.
    • Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline reporting.
    • Create visibility into pipeline health and forecast accuracy.
  • Proposal Coordination
    • Develop highly technical proposal content that clearly communicates business value, differentiators, and client outcomes alongside the technical solution.
    • Ensure proposals are complete, professional, and delivered on schedule.
    • Coordinate proposal development activities, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Gather technical input from subject matter experts and coordinate internal resources during solution design.
    • Leverage prior proposals, project experience, and reusable content to improve proposal effectiveness and accelerate development.
    • Improve proposal templates and reusable content over time.
    • Coordinate with support teams to ensure successful execution of contractual agreements including the Statement of Work, CDA, and MSA.
  • Commercial Process Improvement
    • As a member of the growth team, this role will collaborate to:
      • Help refine sales processes and qualification standards.
      • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency.
      • Improve CRM data quality and reporting.
      • Recommend process improvements that shorten sales cycles and improve win rates.

Note: This is a consultative individual contributor role, and key responsibilities exclude people management.

What Success Looks Like

This role will help shape the future commercial organization at MetrumRG. Within the first year, this individual will help MetrumRG achieve the following:

  • Proposal investments are focused on the highest-value opportunities, improving proposal win rates and revenue growth.
  • A greater percentage of qualified opportunities convert into signed engagements.
  • Strategic relationships are established and nurtured with key accounts, fostering long-term partnerships and identifying opportunities for expanded collaboration.
  • Scientists spend more time advising clients and less time managing proposal logistics.
  • Leadership has reliable visibility into pipeline health, forecasting, and commercial performance.
  • Clients experience a responsive, professional commercial process from first contact through contract execution.
  • The QS business operates with a consistent, disciplined commercial process that scales with growth.
Qualifications
  • Required Experience
    • 5+ years in sales, business development and/or account management within a life sciences professional services environment; preferably in Model Informed Drug Development.
    • Experience leading consultative B2B sales for professional or technical services with multiple stakeholders and extended sales cycles.
    • Strong CRM experience (HubSpot preferred).
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
    • Demonstrated organizational abilities.
    • Experience supporting proposal development for complex engagements.
    • Familiarity with technical/scientific buyers and highly specialized consulting environments.
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Takes initiative and drives opportunities forward, while keeping the right people looped in along the way.
  • Works through ambiguity to achieve goals.
  • Balances commercial urgency with thoughtful decision-making.
  • Brings strong commercial judgment and understands how to qualify opportunities.
  • Keeps multiple priorities organized without losing momentum.
  • Communicates confidently with both executives and technical experts.
  • Builds trust through reliability and follow-through.
  • Enjoys improving structure and processes.
  • Can learn a technical industry without needing to be a technical expert.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
