Digital PR Manager - US

As Digital PR Manager, you’ll lead creative, campaign‑driven initiatives that build authority, high‑quality links, and brand visibility for FairPlay Sports Media properties—primarily Oddschecker—in the US market. You’ll use our unique access to betting data, product insights, and industry relationships to create stories that earn top‑tier coverage and drive measurable SEO and brand impact across the regulated US sports betting landscape.

This is a strategic, hands‑on role: you’ll design and run standout campaigns—data studies, research projects, partnerships, and interviews with sports personalities—rather than focusing on day‑to‑day press release churn. You’ll work closely with SEO, Editorial, Commercial, and Product teams to ensure campaigns support business goals and strengthen our visibility in search results and AI/LLM discovery surfaces.

Qualified candidates may only reside in the following states:  FL, MD, MN, NJ, NY, PA or TN

Key responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver campaigns that secure high‑quality backlinks and citations from US and global publishers, broadcasters, and digital outlets.

  • Turn proprietary betting data (odds, offers, Bet Builder insights, user trends) into stories journalists want to reference and link to.

  • Build full‑funnel campaigns, including data‑led research projects, long‑form studies, partnerships, and interviews with sports personalities and commentators.

  • Use Oddschecker’s and FairPlay’s datasets to originate newsworthy, US‑relevant angles across NFL, NBA, MLB, college sports, and other key codes.

  • Proactively pitch US and international journalists, bloggers, and on‑air talent with timely insights and press materials.

  • Maintain and grow relationships with newsroom editors, sports desks, betting and business reporters, and industry media across key US states and national outlets.

  • Write and distribute high‑quality press releases, media notes, and supporting assets that meet editorial standards and compliance requirements.

  • Produce companion content on owned properties to act as link targets, traffic drivers, and long‑term SEO assets for campaigns.

What you’ll be accountable for
  • Hitting link acquisition targets (quality, relevance, authority) and branded mentions across priority markets, with a strong focus on US coverage.

  • Driving measurable improvements in organic visibility and inclusion within AI/LLM surfaces through robust citations and well‑structured campaign assets.

  • Own weekly/monthly reporting on links earned, domain quality, coverage themes, traffic uplift, assisted conversions, and subscription impact.

  • Maintain US/UK workbooks and dashboards and benchmark performance against campaign KPIs and broader OKRs.

  • Show how campaigns move core metrics: traffic, offer clicks, Bet Builder engagement, subscriptions, and other relevant business KPIs.

  • Translate campaign insights into clear next‑step recommendations for PR and SEO roadmaps.

  • Keep a strong pipeline of PR concepts, newsjacking opportunities, and evergreen data stories tailored to US sports and cultural moments.

  • Maintain an up‑to‑date global contacts database (journalists, publishers, broadcasters, website owners), with robust coverage of US outlets.

How you’ll support other teams
  • Partner with SEO to identify target pages, anchor themes, and internal linking opportunities that support commercial goals.

  • Align PR campaigns with priority keywords, products, and components (odds, offers, Bet Builder, tools) across US and global markets.

  • Collaborate with Editorial on calendars and tent‑pole moments (e.g., NFL season, March Madness, NBA playoffs, major soccer weeks) to maximise timing and impact.

  • Co‑create content for owned properties that reinforces PR narratives and provides strong destinations for links and user engagement.

  • Coordinate with CRM and Social to amplify campaign reach, recycle assets, and build off‑site communities—then commercialise them in partnership with Commercial.

Your skillset
  • 4+ years in Digital PR/Communications for sport, entertainment, or data‑driven consumer brands (agency or in‑house), ideally with US market exposure.

  • Genuine passion for sport and betting, with a strong instinct for trends, timely angles, and US‑specific story hooks.

  • Proven success earning high‑authority links and coverage through data stories, research, and strong media relationships.

  • Exceptional written English for press releases, pitches, by‑lines, and data‑led narratives, with the ability to adapt tone for US publications.

  • Established media contacts and the ability to quickly build new relationships across US, UK, and global sports and betting outlets.

  • Comfortable working with datasets (e.g., Oddschecker, WhoScored) to create accurate, compelling PR assets and explain methodology clearly.

  • Proficient with PR/SEO tools (media databases, monitoring and outreach platforms, link auditing, analytics)

  • Strong reporting skills: can connect PR outputs to business metrics and communicate impact to stakeholders.

  • People‑management experience (direct line management or mentorship) with a coaching‑focused approach.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
