About MarcoPolo Learning

MarcoPolo Learning is a US-based early childhood education technology company delivering award-winning science and social-emotional learning content to schools, districts, and families across the United States. Our platform combines video, educator guides, and interactive tools used by teachers and families every day.

We are a lean, mission-driven team rebuilding the business around AI-first operations and scalable automated experiences. This hire is central to that transformation.

The Role

This is a semi-technical, commercially focused role. We are not looking for a software engineer. We are looking for someone who understands how businesses grow — through marketing, lead nurturing, and customer engagement — and who is actively embracing AI tools to make those things happen faster and smarter.

You will work across marketing automation, conference lead follow-up, customer onboarding, and operational workflows, using AI and no-code tools to reduce manual effort and improve outcomes. You will report directly to the CEO and collaborate with our engineering team when needed. This is a high-ownership, proactive role — you are expected to identify problems and act on them.

What You Will Own

  • Automated customer reporting:  Replace manual CSV workflows with live usage dashboards and automated data delivery to partner success teams and customers
  • Marketing automation:  Design and run automated social media and campaign pipelines so brand activity continues without dedicated headcount
  • Content generation:  Use AI to produce printables, educator guides, and supplemental materials at scale from our existing video and curriculum library
  • Agentic operational workflows:  Sales tracking, task follow-up, renewal alerts, and internal reporting — identify, prioritize, and automate
  • Data pipeline coordination:  Work with the engineering team to ensure the right data is available to power the automations you build
  • AI tooling evaluation:  Stay current on the AI landscape and recommend when and how new tools should be adopted

What You Bring

Required

  • 2–5 years of experience in digital marketing, marketing operations, business operations, or a commercially focused role
  • Active, self-directed user of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) — you have incorporated these into your daily work, not just experimented once
  • Hands-on experience with a marketing automation or CRM platform: HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, or similar
  • Understanding of email campaign logic — sequences, triggers, segmentation, follow-up workflows
  • Comfortable setting up no-code automations using tools like Zapier or Make to connect platforms and reduce manual steps
  • Strong commercial instinct — you think about outcomes, not just tasks
  • Proactive and self-managing — you do not wait to be told what to do next

Preferred

  • Some exposure to API integrations or basic technical configuration (you do not need to code, but you need to follow the conversation with engineers)
  • Experience at a SaaS company, EdTech startup, or subscription-based business
  • Familiarity with conference or event lead management and follow-up workflows
  • Interest in or experience with AI agents, AI content generation, or prompt engineering — even if self-taught

Who Thrives Here

  • You prefer shipping over strategizing — you are not satisfied with a roadmap until something is live
  • You work well without heavy direction; you scope your own work and deliver against it
  • You see a manual process and immediately think about how to automate it — and you follow through
  • You are excited about the potential for AI to make a small company operate like a much larger one
  • You respect the mission: making early childhood education better for teachers, schools, and families

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary:  Competitive as per local market standards — commensurate with experience
  • Equity / stock options  (meaningful participation for the right candidate — open to discussion)

Work Environment

  • Bangalore-based, with flexibility to work remotely — some in-person collaboration expected
  • Supportive, mission-driven culture that values outcomes over hours
  • Small team — your work is visible, your impact is real
  • Collaborative environment that celebrates milestones and builds together
  • Access to ongoing learning opportunities as the AI landscape evolves

We prioritise candidates who lead with concrete examples over credentials alone.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
