How you’ll make an impact:

We’re looking for a DevOps Manager who is passionate about building high-performing teams, driving operational excellence, and guiding the design of scalable systems that power our enterprise software platform. In this role, you’ll provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to our DevOps engineers while also staying hands-on enough to understand the technology and processes that keep us running.

You’ll partner closely with software engineering, product, and operations to ensure reliable deployments, streamlined workflows, and resilient infrastructure across both on-premise and public cloud environments.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DevOps engineers, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Define and oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of microservice infrastructure in both on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Establish and track Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Oversee release and deployment processes, ensuring smooth, predictable, and auditable rollouts.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and scale operations.
  • Champion the development and adoption of tools for monitoring, observability, and incident response.
  • Coordinate and participate in on-call rotations while continually improving incident management processes.
  • Partner with software engineering leaders to align infrastructure with product and business needs.
  • Advocate for best practices in cloud architecture, configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven leadership experience managing DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience running production workloads in medium-to-large Kubernetes clusters (tens to hundreds of nodes).
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud services (AWS preferred) and hybrid infrastructure strategies.
  • Proficiency with configuration management (Chef, Ansible) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Background in scripting and programming (Shell, C#, PowerShell, SQL, or similar).
  • Familiarity with distributed version control systems (Git).
  • Solid system administration expertise in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills, able to bridge technical and business priorities.
  • A proactive problem-solver who thrives on scaling systems and processes.

You would really wow us if:

  • You bring experience with datacenter technologies (storage, networking, virtualization).
  • You have successfully led teams through high-severity production incidents and implemented learnings.
  • You demonstrate strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
  • You have experience acting as a scrum master or project manager, helping teams deliver outcomes efficiently.

Estimated Salary Range: $138,000-170,000
Actual salary will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skill set and level of experience. This salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Strata also provides discretionary variable pay programs based on role. In addition, Strata provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits, health and welfare benefits, paid time off, parental leave, life and accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
