Leidos has an exciting opportunity to hire a DevOps Engineer supporting the USAF Next Generation Mission Planning program.  You’ll be joining a dynamic team taking Azure Cloud solutions for the DoD to the next  level.  In this opportunity you’ll help manage and design DevOps solutions supporting 40+ developer groups employing cutting-edge technology stacks.  As part of the team, you’ll be tasked with implementing, managing and optimizing various pipeline solutions, with time to learn & train while driving speed & capability enhancements for our warfighters. Leidos provides a real work-life balance with 3-day weekends and flexible hours.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be energetic, organized, eager to learn and comfortable working & speaking in a team environment, placing a high value on collaboration and team success.Core responsibilities include:

  • Automating, integrating, and prototyping solutions in a DevSecOps environment

  • Communicating clearly & frequently to support software developer teams via messaging applications

  • Creating & maintaining documentation, wikis, & training materials for other DevSecOps engineers and developers

  • Integrating microservices-based architectures into various environments (K8s, K3s, RKE2s)

  • Mentoring less-experienced software developers on how to develop and integrate new capabilities within an AWS or Azure cloud-based DoD Mission Planning pipeline

  • Providing Help-desk escalation support to software developer teams

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required (no dual or Green Card/Permanent Resident Card),

  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret-level Security Clearance,

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely-related field,

  • 4+ years of software development or operations experience working on microservices-based architectures and Application Programming Interface (API) design,

  • 1+ years of working in a DevSecOps environment and familiar with DevSecOps best practices,

  • Ability to work with both Linux & Windows Operating Systems,

  • Bash/Shell Scripting Experience,

  • Experience with Jenkins or comparable build automation tooling,

  • Experience with one or more Kubernetes cluster types (e.g., AKS (most preferred), EKS, GKE, Openshift, K3s, RKE2s, Minikube),

  • Experience with Docker containers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Kubernetes applications (e.g., Kubectl, Helm, Rancher),

  • Experience with system monitoring stacks, such as:

    • Prometheus / Grafana / Loki

    • Elastic / Kibana

    • Splunk

  • Knowledge of software version control and repo tools (GIT and Bitbucket preferred),

  • Experience with frontend web-application technologies (i.e., Node, NPM, React, Redux),

  • Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools,

  • Experience working in an Agile Development environment (SAFe Agile is a plus),

  • Experience with Azure DevOps/Atlassian Tool Suite,

  • Experience with Virtual Machine Technology (Hyper-V, VMware Workstation),

  • Experience with Windows Subsystem for Linux,

Pay Range:Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
