Company Intro

At Sift, we’re redefining how modern machines are built, tested, and operated. Our platform gives engineers real-time observability over high-frequency telemetry, eliminating bottlenecks and enabling faster, more reliable development.

Sift was born from our work at SpaceX on Dragon, Falcon, Starlink, and Starship—where scaling telemetry, debugging flight systems, and ensuring mission reliability demanded new infrastructure. Founded by a team from SpaceX, Google, and Palantir, Sift is built for mission-critical systems where precision and scalability are non-negotiable.

Description

Sift is hiring a technical communicator and relationship-builder to help us go to market more effectively at a critical moment in our growth. Our platform is being used by the most advanced engineering teams in aerospace, defense, and next-gen manufacturing.

As adoption grows, we need someone who can engage directly with engineers in the field, build trust with technical communities, and bring insights back to our go-to-market and product teams. Someone who can create high-credibility content, represent Sift publicly at events, and help us show up in the market with clarity, precision, and empathy for mission-critical teams.

This role blends developer advocacy, technical content, and community engagement with influence. It’s built for someone who knows how engineers evaluate tools, and who can move fluidly between writing a technical blog post, participating in a Reddit thread, and briefing the product team on a new use case seen in the field. You’ll be a key partner to sales, growth, and product, personifying our brand in the market in organic ways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build Community Relationships: Engage with aerospace, defense, and robotics engineers in online communities, social media, at industry events, and invite-only forums. Represent Sift credibly in these spaces and form long-term, trust-based connections with technical users and influencers.

  • Create Technical Content: Build, manage, and lead educational webinars, product workshops based on core use cases for Sift and at industry events. Support GTM content creation efforts and maintain a steady drumbeat of credible, reusable content.

  • Support Sales: Collaborate with GTM and AE teams to create field-ready technical assets, and objection handling for mission-critical programs.

  • Feed Product & GTM with Field Insight: Surface insights from community conversations. Report feedback, concerns, emerging needs, or competitive dynamics back into product, growth, and sales strategy.

  • Drive Product Launch Execution: Support the rollout of new features by creating developer-facing content for social media and online communities.

The Skillset You Bring
  • Technical Background: You’ve worked as an engineer, developer, or solutions architect an have demonstrated influence in the market. You’re comfortable in technical conversations and understand what matters to teams testing and operating complex systems.

  • Credible Content Execution: You’ve published blogs, demos, documentation, or technical explainer content that engineers actually read and use. You know how to write clearly, avoid fluff, and convey how tools actually work.

  • Community Presence & Empathy: You engage publicly and naturally in online technical communities, and you know how to add value in conversation not just promote a product. You’re comfortable promoting yourself and Sift online. You’re someone engineers want to hear from, because you listen and share useful things.

  • Audience Fluency: You understand how aerospace and defense engineers evaluate tools, how they adopt infrastructure, and what earns their attention in a crowded field. You can translate this back to GTM teams to develop assets and support sales.

  • Mission Orientation: You care about building infrastructure for systems that can’t fail. You understand the stakes, the complexity, and the importance of getting this right.

Location:

Sift’s headquarters is in El Segundo, CA. We collaborate in person twice a week—on Mondays and Thursdays—and come together for a full week every two months. While we prefer team members to be local, we’re open to relocating candidates to LA or considering remote work from the San Francisco area for the right candidate.

Salary range: $170,000 - $220,000 per year. Plus equity and benefits.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
