The Role:
We're looking for a strategic and hands-on Developer Relations Manager to lead Apryse's efforts in building a strong, engaged developer community. In this role, you'll define our global developer advocacy strategy, elevate our technical brand presence, and champion the voice of the developer across content, community, and product. You'll work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and marketing teams to scale impactful programs that build trust, drive adoption, and position Apryse as a developer-first company.
Responsibilities:
  • Own the advocacy strategy: Define and execute programs aligned with the long-term goals of awareness, trust, and community-led advocacy.
  • Drive developer brand presence: Increase Apryse visibility through community participation, technical content, events, and third-party developer engagement.
  • Manage and scale advocacy programs: Identify and support developer advocates (internal and external) who can amplify our reach and credibility.
  • Oversee content strategy: Coordinate with internal contributors (engineering, marketing, research) to create high-quality blogs, talks, demos, and tutorials.
  • Build feedback loops: Establish mechanisms to gather qualitative insights from developers and route them back into product, marketing, and documentation efforts.
  • Define and track metrics: Report on activity metrics (e.g. talks, posts) and engagement metrics (e.g. shares, mentions, word-of-mouth referrals).
  • Partner across functions: Collaborate closely with Engineering, Marketing, Product, and Community teams to ensure alignment and avoid siloed efforts.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, or a related field in a technical company (SDK or platform experience strongly preferred).
  • Background in software engineering or technical writing; ability to understand and communicate complex technical topics clearly.
  • Proven track record of growing developer engagement and brand affinity.
  • Experience leading community-building initiatives or ambassador programs.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication skills.
  • Comfortable being the public face of technical content, online or at events.
  • Strong understanding of what makes developers tick - especially those who are marketing-averse, highly technical, and community-oriented.

Assets:
  • Experience working in the document, SDK, or B2D (business-to-developer) space.
  • Familiarity with open-source community engagement models.
  • Exposure to developer SEO/SEM strategy and event-based developer outreach.

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • A comprehensive extended benefits package including health, dental and vision for you and your family, with company paid offerings.
  • 401K savings program with company match.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) is offered to support the ability to rest and recharge.
  • A great team environment and resources, supporting you to do the best work of your life and providing unlimited career growth potential.
  • Highly autonomous and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Annual recurring WFH allowance for you to purchase items you need for your home office.
  • Ongoing support for learning development so you can master your craft.
  • Work with the hardware you're most comfortable with (Windows or Mac).
  • Diverse and inclusive workplace where we all learn from each other.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
