About PubNub

PubNub powers the world’s most engaging real-time experiences—chat, live updates, and interactive applications—for over 2,000 companies including Verizon, Autodesk, Zillow, and Dropbox. Our global data network processes trillions of messages each month with sub-100 ms latency across 15+ data centers. Backed by $130M in funding, we’re shaping the future of how the world connects.

About the Role

We are looking for a mid-level Developer Relations Engineer who is a Builder-Educator at heart. Your mission is to make the lives of developers who want to understand PubNub as easy and interesting as possible. You will demonstrate that PubNub is much more than the pub/sub pipe; it is a sophisticated platform for building high-value, AI-forward real-time applications.

This role is primarily focused on Technical Content Engineering: building open-source sample apps, writing deep-dive guides, and fostering a community on GitHub. Some of your time will involve collaborating with our sales team to build branded Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for high-value prospects, which you will then strategically refactor into generic, world-class content for the wider developer community

Key Responsibilities

  • Build World-Class Samples: Develop and maintain open-source example applications and onboarding content that reduce friction and accelerate adoption.
  • Engineer Technical Content: Write in-depth technical guides, blog posts, and documentation that simplify complex real-time concepts.
  • Champion AI-Forward Development: Demonstrate how PubNub fits into modern AI-driven architectures and workflows.
  • Foster Open-Source Community: Engage with developers on GitHub, manage contributions, and help grow a healthy open-source ecosystem.
  • Strategic Sales Collaboration: Build PoCs for select prospects and refactor them into scalable, high-quality DevRel resources.
  • Virtual & In-Person Presence: Run virtual sessions and represent PubNub at developer meetups and conferences across Poland and Europe.

About You

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in full-stack engineering or Developer Relations.
  • Strong skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, with working knowledge of Swift and Kotlin.
  • An AI-first approach to development and content creation, using modern tooling thoughtfully.
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Based in Poland, with openness to occasional European travel and visits to our Katowice hub.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with real-time messaging, streaming, or distributed systems.
  • A demonstrable open-source or technical education portfolio.
  • Ability to create developer-focused video content and repurpose it across blogs, samples, and documentation.

Why PubNub

  • Engineer-first DevRel role: build real open-source samples, technical guides, and AI-forward real-time architectures—not marketing content.
  • High ownership and influence over how developers learn, adopt, and succeed with PubNub at global scale.
  • Remote-first within Poland, with the option to collaborate from our central Katowice office when useful.
  • Competitive B2B compensation of PLN 15,000–PLN22,000 per month, based on experience and technical depth.
  • Work on internet-scale real-time systems used in production across industries like fintech, gaming, healthcare, and streaming

If you are someone who thrives in a culture that values ownership, learning, and inclusion and work that directly shapes how developers around the world build real-time experiences—and how the future stays connected, then PubNub is the right place for you. PubNub is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer, committed to building a diverse and welcoming workplace.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
