The Role
SimplePractice is seeking a Product Design Manager to join our team on a full-time basis. We are looking for someone who can own, innovate and lead the design in our ecosystem of products. You will get to lead our team of designers while having direct interaction with all levels of the company, including members of our executive team.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead the design across all of SimplePractice ecosystem design experience.
- Lead the SimplePractice design system and design ops in an effort to cultivate a coherent look and feel across all facets of SimplePractice platform.
- Collaborate with Product Directors, Engineering Managers and other Product partners to identify and frame end-to-end Ecosystem business problems.
- Guide your team in quarterly planning.
- Help build and enforce team wide experience principles and vision to create best-in-class design, lead your team in quarterly retrospectives and future planning.
- Build and maintain team-wide processes to streamline day-to-day activities, adjacent opportunities, and vision for 2 to 3 years in the future.
- Manage a team of designers, proactively give candid feedback to your team’s projects and empower career growth.
- Hire, recruit and maintain top design talent.
- Collaborate with other designers, design managers and Directors on pushing the design department to the next level.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Marketing and Leadership to shape Product and communicate efficiently to remove blockers if needed.
- High attention to detail; comfortable, independently multitasking and prioritizing projects in a fast-paced work environment.
Desired Skills & Experience
- You have 7+ years experience shipping products to customers.
- Experience managing small design teams.
- Drive a team to solve challenging user experience problems with delightful solutions.
- Great coach, communicator and leader enabling designers to do their best work.
- Subject matter expertise relating to design processes, methods, and toolkits; ability to identify opportunities to improve how designers work, and develop effective solutions
- Good business acumen to decipher business asks and drive team solutions to achieve the goals.
- Proficient in design software such as Figma, Creative Suite, Sketch, Invision, etc and able to jump in and create designs when needed.
- A clear understanding of the product design process, analysis and prototyping.
- A portfolio demonstrating creative problem solving, ability to design for multiple media and clean visual aesthetic.
- Self-motivated attitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced, strong work ethic, sense of urgency and accountability.
