Job Summary: 

We are looking for a Design Director to lead all aspects of Textile and Graphic design. They will drive roadmap decisions, continuously innovate on design processes, and motivate and enable a large team. The ideal candidate is passionate about creative talent development and has a keen eye for value. They are a creative, solutions-oriented problem solver who seeks the best outcomes for their team, the business, and the customer.

The Design Team is a dynamic group of creatives who work across multiple substrates and platforms to create beautiful, customer-centric products. We take an innovative approach to design, infusing proprietary data and insights into our everyday design decisions. We believe in continuous improvement and always look for ways to achieve a new best.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage a team of ~30 talented textile and graphic designers that translate concepts into trend-driven, customer-centric home products
  • Build on Ruggable’s innovative design process to up level team output (e.g., increase speed-to-market, improve precision in translating concepts into designs)
  • Work with Design leaders to execute on process improvements, creating new processes from scratch as needed
  • Take input from a variety of sources to propose a collection roadmap that balances trends, customer needs, and business objectives 
  • Secure cross-functional buy-in for new collections with data-driven insights and powerful storytelling, and coach direct reports to do the same
  • Partner with Design Strategy, Product Data & Insights, Product Development, Launch, Partnerships, Brand, and Operations teams to set collections up for success
  • Determine the appropriate size and scope for new collections
  • Evaluate talent and develop staffing plans to support business demands
  • Support team member development: identify training opportunities, outline career growth paths, and provide transparency to team members on how they’re tracking
  • Foster a creative work environment that allows designers to do their best work

What You’ll Need:

Required: 

  • Experience managing a large creative team with demonstrated success
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration skills and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of product performance KPIs and ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • A proven track record of spotting trends in either fashion or interior design, and an eye for elevated design and decor aesthetics
  • Ability to think strategically about the big picture and quickly dive into the nitty-gritty
  • Ability to break down ambiguous, complex problems into simple, practical solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously 
  • Flexible and comfortable with a fast-paced, always-changing environment.

Preferred: 

  • Experience leading multiple teams

Compensation:

  • $100,000 - $151,000 per year
  •  Annual bonus percentage dependent on level of role

I'm most excited about projects that we're undertaking to enhance our Customer Experience. Some of the most immediate projects are expanding the different channels we communicate with customers on including phone and chat. We're also looking into standing up more self-service customer friendly tools so customers always know their order status.
