About the Creative Director, Brand at Headspace:

The Creative Director, Brand is the creative custodian of all things Headspace, ensuring that at every point along the member journey, the brand is expressed at its best. Wherever Headspace appears- be that in advertising, in the product, in social, online, at real-world events, and across multiple entertainment channels from podcasts to TV shows, the brand feels consistent, clear, and incredible!

This role will lead an energetic and vital copy team from within our greater Brand Design org. They’ll be refining and driving our brand voice across every communication channel, partnering with Design, Content, and Marketing leadership in regard to both seasonal campaign strategy and evergreen brand messaging on and off-platform, while managing a growing team of copywriters and standards editors. 

In this creative leadership role, the CD will have the opportunity to deeply impact our brand, our members and future members alike. 

 

The ideal candidate should have outstanding written sensibility, a flair for sparkling copy, feel comfortable concepting projects big and small, and have a modern, honest, and human tone. We seek a strategic thinker, who thrives when partnered with like-minded peers with adjacent talents; principally our Brand Designers and Marketing leads. The ideal candidate will have succeeded in crafting compelling stories that simply and strongly connote the “why” behind innovative products and technologies. They will also be an experienced and engaged manager, capable of building and leading a team that sets an expectation for excellence.

Location: This role is open to remote employees in select US states: California, New York, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Maryland + Washington DC, North Carolina and Washington. 

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

  • The CD must be able to work effectively and collaboratively across all parts of the business, working alongside all sorts of stakeholders to ensure the Headspace brand, and brand team, thrive.
  • They must have a strong focus on brand activity— which is varied and rich here at Headspace, including above the line campaigns, experiential events, brand partnerships, content formats, responses to cultural moments, and more.
  • The Creative Director oversees the copy team of 7-9. Managing their day-to-day and longer-term goals, dreams, and development. Alongside the copy team, the Creative Director has a strong relationship with the Design Director and Design team. Managing teams on a project basis — clearly communicating written direction to lead to world-class creative output
  • Alongside a strong conceptual brain, visual acuity and copy ability the Creative Director also understands the strategic angle — the “why” not just the “what.” And is able to interpret the business goals and data into creative positionings that the team can leap from
  • Lead ideation, brainstorm, and development of creative deliverables alongside other creatives
  • Work in partnership with other creative team members, including Brand Directors and Designers, and at the direction of creative leadership to concept and plan the execution of integrated campaigns and programs across a wide range of media and platforms: social, digital, video, experiences, and content
  • Develop tactics that bring creative concepts to life and achieve program objectives
  • Lead multiple jobs simultaneously; managing and providing direction to other team members as needed 
  • Craft copy across all mediums and all audiences including our website, app, emails, ad campaigns, promotional collateral, and more. Experience on paid social channels is essential.
  • Collaborate closely with our Marketing, Product, Partnership, Customer Experience and Corporate teams to effectively communicate our UVPs, and to elevate and grow the Headspace brand across multiple audiences
  • Represent and present your work to cross-company stakeholders, not only putting forward the requested solution but consistently seeking new and innovative executions
  • This role reports to the Chief Creative Officer

 

What you’ve accomplished:

  • A multi-award-winning creative leader, with a minimum of 10+ years in the creative industries with 5+ years of leadership experience. 
  • Successfully stewarded a world class brand. 
  • World-class experience strategically and conceptually.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a wide range of creative individuals.
  • Copywriting experience is a must.
  • Ability to partner with and inspire stakeholders with a diversity of skills and experience in creative development.
  • Ability to think big and broad across all possible channels and execute to an extraordinary level of craft.
  • Understanding, appreciation, and personal experience of Headspace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving capabilities.
