What’s the role?

As a Design Director, you are a world class professional who will be responsible for solely managing world-class clients and their brands, as well as leading and overseeing multidisciplinary project teams that deliver the design and product work your clients are seeking.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in managing high-profile clients and their brands, with a track record of delivering exceptional design solutions. As a Design  Director, you will play a crucial role in setting the creative direction, driving innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of design excellence.

What will you do?

Client and brand management:

  • Interact with and manage world-class clients and their brands, serving as a key point of contact for all creative matters, and ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, Understand clients' business objectives and translate them into effective design strategies.

Leadership and team management:

  • Lead and oversee the entire design process and creative work within multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring collaboration and cohesion, while fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
  • Mentor and develop creative team members, transmitting passion, and helping them build their career paths, grow their skills and expertise.
  • Collaborate with Product and Project Managers to validate requirements, provide design input, scope and manage projects, align the team’s workflow, and flag risks or reschedule reviews when needed.

Creative direction and innovation:

  • Set the creative direction for projects, ensuring alignment with clients' brand guidelines and objectives.
  • Drive innovation and push the boundaries of design, keeping up with industry trends and best practices.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to deliver world-class design solutions.

Quality control and client satisfaction:

  • Ensure the highest standards of design excellence and quality control across all projects.
  • Regularly review and provide feedback on design deliverables to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Monitor project progress and timelines, ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
What do we expect from you?
  • 10+ years of experience in Product or UX Design, including at least 4 years in creative leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to lead complex programs with multiple workstreams, delivering high-impact solutions for world-class clients.
  • Experience driving the development and evolution of digital design systems and visual identity frameworks.
  • Strong UX background with a sharp eye for craft, usability, and strategic product thinking.
  • Skilled at defining briefs, translating business needs and user insights into thoughtful product experiences, and inspiring innovative thinking.
  • Deep understanding of current design trends, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable leading strategic conversations and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of building client trust, growing relationships, and aligning internal and external teams.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a history of effective mentorship and coaching across all levels.
  • Committed to talent development and fostering an environment where designers can do their best work.
  • Being comfortable navigating ambiguity and able to provide clear direction and support in evolving contexts.

This role is currently not available for hire or work in New Mexico, and Hawaii, USA.

The salary range for this position is as listed below. Exactly where a prospective employee will be paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, the actual salary ranges for current and former employees who are either currently filling a similar role or did in the past; the candidate’s depth of experience and qualifications; the level of specialization the role requires; budgetary considerations; the market demand for that role and the local market conditions that exist where the employee will be based. For current Huge employees, tenure will also be a consideration.
