The Deputy General Counsel will oversee legal compliance, contracts, and corporate governance while leading legal efforts for a public company.

Responsibilities:
- Create a compliant legal system suitable for a public company
- Responsible for reviewing all contracts including supply chain, etc.
- Lead capital related legal activities including merger and acquisition, legal negotiations and document drafting
- Respond to other public company compliance requirements and litigation matters
- Manage other legal functions that support corporate internal operation including IP, labor and others
- Develop and implement a comprehensive program for legal and ethical compliance that meets all applicable legal requirements and industry standards
- Implement and manage compliance policies, protocols, and training
- Audit company procedures, policies, and practices to identify potential risks
- Investigate allegations of legal and ethical compliance violations
- Develop and implement risk-based action plans in connection with internal audits and investigations
- Coordinate with regulatory and government officials at various levels and respond to inquiries
- Manage government reporting on various compliance matters
- Counsel company management on legal and ethical compliance laws, regulations, and requirements
- Develop and implement training regimens for compliance topics
- Work seamlessly and collaboratively within the legal team and as a legal business partner to multiple internal business stakeholders
- Manage external legal resources to insure appropriate coordination and management of costs
Professional skillset requirements:
- Public company experience
- Experience in Corporate and Securities law
- Experience with contract law including leading negotiations, overseeing purchase contracts and capital transactions
- Experience in labor law
- Experience in managing investigations and litigation is a plus
Industry Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of in-house corporate legal counsel, law firm experience is a plus
- Must be able to combine legal and business perspectives to support optimal decision-making processes
Education:
- Law degree (J.D.) from ABA-accredited institution
- Eligible to practice law in California (either as in-house counsel or admission to State Bar)
Annual Salary Range:
($190,000 - $250,000 DOE), plus benefits and incentive plans
