The Deployments / Sustainment team is responsible for fielding Anduril’s products to customers. Our core functions span everything from logistics and field operations to product operations and training. This includes site installation, product observability, incident triage, maintenance and repairs, user training, and technical documentation. We work within a broader ecosystem that includes many functional teams across business lines, including Program Management, Engineering, Mission Operations, and Deployments. This team is a crucial component of ensuring customer and mission success, and plays a critical role in shaping how Anduril continues to execute its mission of providing cutting-edge capabilities to the United States and its allies.
We are seeking an experienced Training Director to lead a team to create and deliver user training across our diverse business lines. We believe that the quality of our training should reflect the quality of our products, which are world-class.
As an experienced Training Director, your mission is to lead our team in delivering exceptional, user-centric product training. In this role, you will design and deliver a forward-looking strategy, streamline training processes, and lead a team of curriculum designers, instructional experts, and field trainers to produce content that meets user needs and business objectives. You will partner with our numerous product and operations teams to deliver accurate, updated, and easy-to-learn training on how to use Anduril products. You will do whatever it takes to organize our engineering and program delivery functions in this mission. In this role, you will work closely with engineering and operational leadership to understand our products and user workflows, then use training to close the gap. As such, you will play a foundational role in setting the bar for quality and excellence across our training program.
With Anduril’s focus on defense and national security, user training plays a critical role in ensuring front-line operators know how to leverage the “arsenal of democracy.” Your team’s mission is to make the process of learning how to operate systems as easy and seamless as possible, with exceptionally well-designed and presented training. We expect the the quality of our training to match the quality of our products, which are world-class.
You will supervise your team’s efforts to identify relevant stakeholders and lead them through curriculum development with established key milestones and targets. This will require an in-depth understanding of what teams are relevant to training, and what an organized effort toward collaboration entails. You are to ensure that stakeholders are engaged at the right time, and you will guide them towards a finished user-facing curriculum that plainly meets customer needs. Finally, your team will work with account managers to ensure that contract deliverables are accurate, on-time, and in the right format.
Training content produced within your scope will include things like: new equipment, basic operator, advanced operator, maintainer, refresher, and sustainment training. Training will be for internal and external users, and curriculum will be delivered in a variety of formats including: in person classroom, over the shoulder, integrated multimedia, simulation, online, field, and practical application.
Along with our commercial offerings outlined above, Anduril is pursuing Programs with the US Government, which require training to conform to various military and industry standards. Familiarity with these standards is highly desired.
- Establish a comprehensive training strategy that aligns with product roadmaps, including scalable curriculum architectures. We want someone who can leverage technology to improve training availability and efficacy, and can prove it.
- Design and implement a streamlined curriculum development, review, and management workflow to support product release cycles.
- Implement performance metrics and key indicators to track documentation quality and success. Help drive the best decision for the company by using a data-driven approach and consider input from stakeholders to ensure well-informed decisions. You should be prepared to fill gaps that represent risks to the training roadmap.
- Build an execution strategy to support your vision, accounting for every detail including additional headcount, budget, new processes and tools.
- Maintain high standards for clarity, consistency, and technical accuracy in all training.
- Identify high-priority areas for improvement in existing curriculum, devising and executing actionable improvement plans.
- Contribute to Anduril’s training toolkit - working on everything from online training to the curriculum lifecycle and review process, and also relevant software tool procurement through definition requirements for things like authoring and content management tools.
- Communicate and help manage expectations. Ensure risks are noted with adequate time, mitigations are identified, and resources are allocated.
- Help build a culture of training excellence by creating process and expectations for all who train on our systems. Refine our product maturity framework so that training is a meaningful step towards productization of new systems.
- 5+ years of demonstrated excellence leading a cross-functional team.
- 3+ years of experience managing teams of curriculum developers, designers, and field instructors.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation.
- Experience leading an online training program, including various learning management systems and authoring content software.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on technical subjects.
- Must thrive with autonomy and responsibility, managing competing priorities and tight deadlines. Impeccable project-management skills.
- Passion for excellent documentation and user experience.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Leadership within Department of Defense training program, particularly with exposure to military training standards, guidelines, and verbiage. Additional preference given to candidates with experience in an Integrated Product Support framework and have developed training out of engineering documentation.
- Experience delivering content on fast-paced, complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to use data insights to refine and optimize content strategies.
