Job Description Summary:

The primary role of the demand planner is to assist each market (business manager) to develop reliable depletions forecasts. This position is a key driver in understanding and managing the demand inputs which the organization uses to align commercial and operational forecasts. The demand planner will use data insights to collaborate with business managers to improve forecast accuracy. This person is a hands-on worker who will drive the process of developing demand forecasts and work with other functional teams in the overall S&OP and IBP processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop statistical forecasts and manage seasonality and events to develop reliable depletion projections.  Manage forecast exceptions by utilizing demand-planning reports to address variances and correct errors
  • Interact with sales, brand management and purchasing to understand and interpret the potential impact of market trends and demand drivers.  Adjust the forecast to reflect those impacts or risks.
  • Capture both planned and unplanned chain store promotions and develop process to improve commercial input to improve accuracy and fulfillment.
  • Collect past/future demand factors (distribution gains/losses, price changes, new/discontinued products and promotion plans, etc.) from sales and brand management.
  • Communicate forecast confidence, including risks and opportunities, to the business manager, purchasing and supply teams.
  • Participate in the monthly Sales and Operations Planning process by leading the Demand Review and reporting on key metrics and insights.
  • Develop and publish adhoc reports according to needs of the business and functional groups.
  • Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Mathematics, Engineering, or Finance or related field desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in purchasing, supply chain strategy, finance or similar position
  • Experience with analytics and reporting
  • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software
  • Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
  • Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Inventory replenishment and transportation industry experience
  • Formal training in statistical models and their application
  • Knowledge or experience in modeling and/or simulation

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone

  • May help coordinate the work of junior members of the team.
  • Resolves issues which are often varied and non-routine. Undertakes analysis and investigation to solve issues.

Salary and Benefit Statement:

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience

  • Salary/Rate Range: $59,000-74,750
  • This position is eligible for health care benefits, life insurance, time off benefits and participation in the Company’s 401(k) plan
