As a Database Engineer, you will maintain database infrastructure, optimize queries, manage integrity across networks, and mentor junior engineers.
General Description:
We are seeking a Database Engineer to join our Computational Physics division, where our Data Platform team provides database support services to both software engineers and physicists.
In this role, you will work closely with developers and researchers, maintaining and improving database infrastructure, optimizing queries, and ensuring consistent, scalable data interaction.
Essential Duties:
Maintain and improve database schema
Monitor and tune database performance
Manage data integrity across air-gapped networks
Maintain and improve infrastructure-as-code toolchain
Collaborate with software engineers and researchers to optimize workflows
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to strategic planning
Required Skills:
Relational database schema design
SQL optimization
Microsoft SQL Server or similar RDBMS
MSSQL Data Tier Applications is desired
Python or similar scripting language is desired
SQLAlchemy ORM is desired
Data Warehousing is desired
CI/CD Pipelines is desired
PowerShell & Bash is desired
Docker is desired
Required Education:
BS in computer science or related filed or equivalent experience + 3-5 years experience
Special Requirements:
This is an on-site position due to the need to work with air-gapped networks and sensitive information. US Citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance as required.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,715 - $150,895 + bonus + benefits.
