About the Role
As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will play a critical role in ensuring high availability, optimizing scalability, and delivering exceptional performance for our client’s complex, large-scale systems. Collaborating with Infrastructure and Technology teams, you’ll be responsible for managing, monitoring, and enhancing databases that power key operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor database availability, identify potential issues, and propose optimizations for scalability and performance.
- Architect and implement new technologies and strategies in collaboration with Infrastructure and Line of Business Technology teams.
- Manage data backup, disaster recovery procedures, and restore processes.
- Install, upgrade, and configure new and existing servers, including patches and new versions.
- Ensure extremely high levels of availability for production and UAT systems.
- Resolve system issues promptly and professionally.
- Adhere to and enforce company security and compliance policies.
- Automate recurring tasks to streamline daily operations.
- Participate actively in on-call shift rotations with flexibility for evening and occasional weekend work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- 7–10 years of administration & development experience in MS SQL Server (2016/2017/2019).
- 5+ years of experience supporting high-transactional, large-scale systems with very high levels of availability.
- Expertise in writing ad-hoc T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
- 4+ years of utilizing PowerShell for task automation.
- Proven experience with database schema and code release processes.
- Skilled in evaluating and optimizing query performance.
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
- Familiarity with SQL Server replication (all types) and maintaining SSIS packages for ETL processes.
- Experience supporting Development, QA, and TechOps teams with data maintenance and query building.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of fixed-income, derivatives, and equity markets.
- Familiarity with SQL Server on SAN environments, Quest monitoring tools, or SolarWinds DPA.
- Experience with Oracle, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
