VP, Data and Analytics:

The VP, Data and Analytics role will oversee Reformation’s effort to use data in achieving the company’s growth plan.  Reporting to the CFO, the VP will translate strategic thinking into tangible and profitable actions.  This is a Leadership Team role, that will create value by leveraging talent, processes, and technology in new and innovative ways focusing on data and analytics.  The role will be responsible for building and leading a team of data architects, engineers, analysts and scientists who will be responsible for optimizing and transforming our data architecture and related functions.  Drawing on internal staff, outside consultants and the private equity investor data and analytics team, the VP will assess and propose the optimal resource solution based on the business needs. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.  He/she thrives on solving problems, has strong analytical and economic thinking skills and the ability to lead a group of people toward executing on a results driven data analytics vision.

What You’ll Do:

  • Define, drive, align, evangelize, and deploy the vision, strategies, initiatives, and talent necessary to mature Reformation’s data and analytics capability
  • Be an authoritative source of knowledge and best practices on data and analytics
  • Develop a whiteboard vision of a robust data and analytics team and aggressively build towards the vision over time
  • Leverage both internal and external talent to develop an advanced data and decision analytics capability to solve problems and drive profitable actions
  • Build strong partnerships with business leadership to understand what decisions they could make, and what processes could be improved and value gained through data/analytics; painting a picture of what is possible
  • As part of the Leadership team, collaborate and provide input on cross-functional topics
  • Partner with subject-matter experts leveraging data from various platforms in order to develop customer insights and actionable recommendations
  • Manage and maintain the complete delivery cycle of performance analytics deliverables, including integrated dashboards and ad-hoc requests
  • Develop analytics deliverables, including documentation of data requirements, measurement planning, and front-end visualization approach
  • Manage data engineering & design best practices to architect solutions, using a deep understanding of various data formats and database design approaches
  • Improve data quality and governance in partnership with business stakeholders
  • Drive the overall strategy and prioritization of advanced analytics projects, including but not limited to custom audience segmentation and propensity modeling, media mix modeling, and multi-touch attribution models
  • Evolve analytics from manual reporting to automated exceptions or automated decisions (inventory replen, shipping service optimization, etc)
  • Manage the data technology stack to maintain uptime/SLA goals for the business
  • Empower the organization over time with some level of data/analytics self service through definitions, tools, education

What You’ll need:

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, engineering and analysis
  • Dedication to transforming and changing both the availability/sophistication of data and the culture to utilize data
  • Experience working closely with businesses and technical teams to identify and tackle business opportunities and solve real world business problems
  • Strong analytical and quantitative expertise in Martech and marketing platforms, attribution, and site analytics
  • Expertise in attracting, retaining, mentoring and managing a top notch technical talent
  • Experience researching, developing, and presenting cost/benefit analysis
  • Demonstrated experience designing measurement products or services
  • Technical experience (hands on is preferred)
  • Strong DB skills, with RDBMS (E.g., Oracle, SQL) as well as modern relational and unstructured data sources, including cloud services (AWS/Azure).
  • Relational and non-relational database technology, cloud-based data lake, ETL, data pipelines
  • Data visualization/BI tools like Tableau/Looker/Data Studio
  • Statistical models for multivariate testing, time series analysis, logistic regression and linear/non-linear regression, Bayesian methods using statistical software packages (R, Python SciPy) and/or programming languages (SQL, Python or JAVA)
  • Experience with utilizing and managing third party research and data vendors
  • Superior communications ability, from analysts to C-level, and able to communicate highly technical concepts in layman’s terms
  • Excellent at presenting data in a visually engaging and insightful manner that cuts through the noise
