WHY WE NEED YOU

The Hyperstructures team is responsible for design and development of the infrastructure, portals, and mechanisms that make travel on the transportation system of the future possible. As a Structural Analyst you will be integral to the both the Hyperstructures and broader engineering teams, working to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of our system.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Use your depth of analysis knowledge, breadth of engineering skills, and desire to learn in order to solve both familiar and novel problems
- Own the analysis of various parts, assemblies, and systems:
- Perform hand calculations for initial design checks
- Define applicable loads, load combinations, and failure criteria
- Create finite element models (FEM)
- Set up and solve static and dynamic analyses
- Post process results and creating reports and presentations
- Collaborate with others to develop and improve designs
- Work closely with test engineers to define the required experiments to validate and verify materials, models, and systems
- Create analysis methods, tools, and templates for use companywide
- Review analysis work of other engineers
WHAT YOU’VE DONE
- Acquired minimum education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, another related field, or equivalent work experience
- Used basic engineering hand calculations to check designs and analysis results
- Acquired a strong knowledge of the basics of finite element method
- Performed multiple analyses from start to finish using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software; e.g. ANSYS (preferred), Abaqus, or NASTRAN
- Used written and verbal communication to clearly and concisely explain analysis problems and results to both analysts and non-analysts
- Shown an ability to make decisions, effectively lead tasks, and meet deadlines
- Worked and communicated effectively with multidisciplinary teams to help complete projects
NICE TO HAVE
- Programming experience in Matlab, Python, or similar
- Experience working on a product from concept to production
- Practical knowledge of verification and validation processes; requirement creation, test planning, etc.
