Job Overview
The Senior Database Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, architecture, performance, integrity, security of databases best practice and implementation. Providing day to day operational support to the Database Administration and Database Architect. Troubleshoots and debugs to identify root cause of database performance and exceptions. Collaborates on corporate projects and initiatives regarding Database and Data Management.

Job Overview
The Senior Database Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, architecture, performance, integrity, security of databases best practice and implementation. Providing day to day operational support to the Database Administration and Database Architect. Troubleshoots and debugs to identify root cause of database performance and exceptions. Collaborates on corporate projects and initiatives regarding Database and Data Management.
A Typical Day
- Design and build highly available and high-volume relational databases
- Perform backups, restores, and recovery models as needed
- Plan, prepare, test and perform database patches and upgrades
- Implement operational automation and monitoring using scripts and SQL jobs
- Performance tune and write code for database data manipulation
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Highly self-motivated and directed
- Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities
- Provides and designs tools to assist in the automated management of the database and transaction processing environment
- Establish and monitor database processes and periodic maintenance tasks
- Create, implement, and manage data management and migration processes
- Analyze, develop and implement solutions that meet the companies capacity and performance requirements
- Analyze and tune databases for optimal efficiency
- Assist with backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover activities
- Provide assistance in the areas of database security and the security of the data in the database
- Optimize SQL performance, work with database partitioning, compression and indexing
- T-SQL coding; including stored procedures, views, and triggers as needed
- Experience participating in the support of large scale databases
- Ability to work flexible hours under minimal supervision.

- Provide and enforce best practice
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related Field or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of experience in database architectural design
- Architectural knowledge of the following database engine best practices: MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, DynamoDB, Snowflake, & Redshift
- Architectural knowledge of AWS database DevOps best practices and implementation
- Architectural knowledge of database replication : AlwaysOn, Transactional replication, DMS
- Working knowledge of differing approaches to data storage in AWS
- Working knowledge of AWS Database Migration Service
- Experience working in an Agile environment
