Senior Database Administrator - Data Services & Enterprise Data Warehouse

Weedmaps is looking for a Senior Database Administrator responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of the company databases while driving continuous improvement and best practices across the organization. You'll be joining our Data Services team where you'll play a key role in driving engineering excellence in support of our business goals.

The impact you'll make:

  • Design, build, test, and maintain our AWS RDS infrastructure
  • Create, maintain, and participate in active monitoring of infrastructure
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to streamline our database implementations
  • Triage production issues in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities, project planning, code review, and technical design
  • Review and isolate SQL bottlenecks
  • Maintaining availability and SLAs for database uptime.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting data pipeline issues
  • Deploying code to various environments
  • Support and troubleshooting data pipeline issues. Develop ETL data pipelines.
  • Perform technology and product assessments to drive required infrastructure needs to meet scalability, availability, security and concurrency needs.

What you've accomplished:

  • 6-10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator
  • 3+ years’ building and maintaining software systems with AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • 3+ years’ building experience maintaining AWS RDS
  • Strong hands-on DBA experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with highly available (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) implementations for AWS RDS, Postgres, MongoDB, Redshift, Snowflake
  • Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language, Python & Javascript preferred.
  • Experience with AWS, solid understanding of data services offered and ability to recommend cost effective solutions in and out of the box
  • Strong knowledge of various relational and non-relational database systems (Postgres, Redshift, MongoDB, etc), experience with structured and semi structured data.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Redshift or Snowflake preferred
  • Experience with data warehousing preferred
  • Experience with Airflow or similar workflow management solutions.
