About the Job.

As a Senior Data Scientist at true[X], you will join a small and fast growing group actively transitioning existing products and processes to systematic, modern, Data Science based solutions, while also working to develop novel and experimental ideas. You will be the hands-on, end-to-end owner for the analysis, model formulation, implementation and rollout of new and innovative solutions, taking the true[X] advertising and measurement experience to another level.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing statistical methods and data mining algorithms to solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems and provide insights to various internal and external stakeholders 
  • Researching and implementing state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning methods
  • Delivering machine learning projects from beginning to end, including validating needs, specifying the requirements, defining an approach, aggregating and exploring data, building and validating models, deploying completed models, and using the results to deliver business impact 
  • Leveraging Big Data tools (Spark/Hadoop Ecosystem) and cloud services to build ETL pipelines for the data collected on our proprietary ad platform and by third-party vendors 
  • Ensuring data quality throughout all stages of acquisition and processing, including data sourcing, cleansing, normalization, transformation, mapping, etc
  • Writing production-level code (Python/Scala/C++) to implement machine learning models at scale, and working with QA/data/software engineers to test and deploy the models to cloud-hosted ad servers 
  • Monitoring model performance and efficiency in real time, diagnosing and resolving potential production issues, and improving as needed.
  • Presenting proposals and results in a clear manner, backed by data and coupled with actionable conclusions
  • Providing direction and guidance to junior members of the team on all aspects of data science, from business context to technical coaching

What you have:

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, or other relevant field
  • 5+ years of working experience in the areas of machine learning, predictive modeling, and data mining
  • Ability to write efficient code in at least one programing language (Python, Scala, Java, or C++)
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS/Google Cloud/Microsoft Azure/Databricks etc.)
  • In-depth understanding of modern machine learning models (including deep learning, reinforcement learning) and their mathematical underpinning
  • Proven track record of customizing machine learning solutions to business problems in a cross-functional team
  • Experience developing models with successful launch at scale against advertising technology use cases preferred
  • Understanding of and experience with advertising technology, products, and business solutions a plus
