We’re looking for a Procurement Specialist to join the acceleration stage of our sustainable & clean plant-based foods CPG start-up. Must be an incredible problem solver, analytical, quick to pivot, detail-oriented and a fantastic self-starter. The ideal candidate will have played previous roles in supply chain/procurement, ideally in the food industry, have a great understanding of supplier and sourcing know-how, and well-versed in discerning the “why” in order to secure the best pricing and delivery needs of our product.
This position is remote, however applicant must reside in California in order to meet with the local team, suppliers etc. as needed.

What You’ll Do
- Procure ingredients, packaging, and material to support companies’ production cycle with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Coordinate with carriers to ensure complete accuracy on requirements, including item descriptions and delivery quantities, as well as ensure timely pick-up and delivery schedules.
- Maintain inventory levels at outside warehouses (3PL), Amazon, and local warehouses to ensure rotation, service levels, and maximizing working capital.
- Support key stakeholders on gathering required food safety/compliance documentation and information from suppliers.
- Partner with Accounting/Finance to execute purchasing, reconcile WIP & finished goods inventory, and management reporting packages.
What You Need to Succeed
- 3+ years of applicable working experience related to procurement of goods and services.
- Food industry experience required, plus Category specific experience (ingredients, packaging, etc.)
- Strong Excel skills, able to input data quickly and analyze spreadsheets in order to determine purchasing needs.
- Overall solid PC-skills relating to spreadsheet, database and word processing programs.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and priorities at one time.
- Entrepreneurial + analytical at heart, able to identify and solve problems in an ambiguous environment.
- Self-starter who enjoys working independently from a traditional office setting.
- Experience with supply chain, procurement etc. preferred.
- Able to periodically travel to trade shows etc.
