Job Opportunity: Lead of Data and Insights

 

Location: Remote, prefer CA or NY based

 

The Lead of Data and Insights is responsible for architecting and drawing insights from our fan data. They are responsible for developing systems (often in conjunction with our engineer) that can pull data from 3rd party platforms, organize it and make sense of it via dashboards and tools for our internal shareholders.

 

This role will be responsible for helping the company better understand who our fans are, where they are and what type of fan they are (casual observer or stan?!). The role takes this data and develops tools to increase the amount of fans total, and more importantly, the number of super fans total. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage our paid agency, working with the team there to optimize spend, targeting and placement on a daily basis.

  • Develop relationships with 3rd-party platforms and access analytics via official and unofficial APIs.

  • Use BI tools to understand conversation and sentiment around our characters

  • Architect data in a scalable and actionable way to create insights around programming and content.

  • Create and maintain media taxonomy to understand what attributes of content lead to high levels of engagement.  

  • Create and maintain reporting and dashboards around metrics (designed in coordination with management) that can guide our creative teams, help us to understand the health of each platform and monitor complete media success of our characters.

  • Leverage data to build cohorts of fans (Passive fan -> Super Fan).

  • Create an actionable fan CRM that can be used for better understanding how to super-serve our fans.

  • Create/maintain asset level benchmarks and social media engagement KPIs to measure success on priority social platforms: Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and DSPs: Spotify, Apple.

  • Lead research and case studies into what competitors are doing and to discover emerging platforms.

  • Conduct market research and BI analysis.

  • Create revenue-based KPIs to understand financial success on social media. 

  • Develop monthly meetings to summarize the health of our media business to relevant stakeholders.

  • Assist in the weekly updates and audits of data hubs with the goal of providing accurate data sets that reflect the content and programming efforts. 

  • Conduct content recap reports and present to relevant stakeholders. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND STRENGTHS:

  • Multitask and prioritize; be comfortable executing at a high level under very short deadlines.

  • Experience managing paid analytics to help drive paid strategy.

  • Deep knowledge of Digital Media and emerging trends in Social.

  • Ability to take on whole projects and see them through from ideation to creation via dangerous data science skills and familiarity with engineering.

  • Proficient in the following analytical tool sets: Excel, SQL, YouTube Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, Instagram Insights, Twitter Analytics & Ad Insights, CrowdTangle, Crimson Hexagon, Conviva, Tubular, Google Analytics and Spotify Analytics (not required but a plus), Python (not required but a plus).

  • Strong writing skills and management skills.

  • Ability to translate data into insights that service business needs for a wide range of stakeholders. 

  • Passion for conducting critical thinking driven by data discovery and data-informed content development. 

  • Deep understanding of all Digital Programming platforms and content strategies.

  • Helping determine insights that optimize programming decisions across various platforms.

  • Informing creative production and social team on optimal trends and characteristics that drive post performance. 

  • Providing insights that guide decisions made during the ideation process to reduce the creation of underperforming content. 

  • Driving Media Network KPI growth through the effective implementation of paid, data driven visualizations and reporting.

  • Providing insight into how to optimize organic performance on various platforms.  

  • Earn the buy-in and respect of a creative team that is not data and insights native.
