Lead Business Strategist
THE PURPOSE:
- The Business Strategy team is responsible for our corporate strategy, business plan, business model and guidance for strategic partnerships, competitive analysis, and specific aspects of transport project support. It operates in a highly cross-functional environment interfacing with the Senior Leadership, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams Including Projects and Marketing
- The purpose of the Lead – Business Strategy is to lead efforts in support of the objectives above and to support the company in its financing processes
THE ROLE:
- Develop approach towards strategic partnerships consistent with business model and financing strategy in support of the team responsible for execution on those partnerships:
- Conduct industry and company analysis to make recommendations that support engineering, project, procurement, and financing efforts
- Conduct economic and financial analysis and recommend commercial arrangements appropriate for nature of partnership
- Participate in partner discussions
- Lead competitive analysis function:
- Lead research efforts into industry and players (both peers and competitors)
- Conduct competitive analysis of our rapidly evolving landscape and socialize with appropriate internal parties
- Recommend strategies in accordance with this analysis and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement those strategies
- Participate in corporate strategy and planning exercises and business plan development
- As needs evolve, could expect to support with product, project, and financing activities
THE CANDIDATE:
- The candidate should have a background in corporate strategy with experience working in industries relevant to hyperloop development. (Investment banking, Top Tier Consulting, Aerospace, Defense, or Automotive)
- Candidate should have experience with financial modeling
- As this role involves close coordination with multiple departments in the organization, this role requires a candidate with proven collaboration experiences
- Candidate must thrive in ambiguity and be able to provide strategic and thoughtful direction in new commercial and technology frontiers
- Candidate needs to have exemplary written and verbal English communication skills
- Candidate should be highly motivated, independent, and excited to solve tough challenges
- Candidate must be innovative but also a doer who can execute
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Consulting and/or banking experience
- Financial modeling experience
- Experience interacting with and influencing senior executives
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Degrees in business and/or engineering
- Experience in or with technology or industrial companies developing complex physical systems
- Consulting experience specifically in M&A Strategy with a keen understanding of building potential partnerships and determining which organizations will fit VHO’s business strategy
