System1 is looking for a BI Data Engineer to join our Business Intelligence team. The Business Intelligence team is the horizontal layer that supports business intelligence, optimization, machine learning, and external & internal reporting. We process and report on hundreds of millions of events and user attributes per day, gathered from an extremely heterogeneous set of data streams.

As a BI Data Engineer in the Business Intelligence team, you will be working with engineering teams across System1 to ensure that we have the highest quality of data in and out of the platform. Attention to detail and a desire to learn are key to this position.

Our database systems include Snowflake, Postgres, Redshift, and MS SQL server. We also utilize a range of technologies including Kinesis, Spark, and Redis.

The Role You Will Have

• Build/maintain BI datamart structure collaboratively with BI Team
• Design and build summary/aggregation tables for end-user and BI consumption
• Ensure self-recovery/healing/notifications of datamarts as new data arrives throughout the day
• Assist the BI, Data Science, and Marketing teams with data investigations

What You Will Bring

• Bachelors degree (technical or scientific) preferred
• 5+ years working in SQL (Postgres/MySQL/MSSQL or related) in a production environment
• Advanced SQL query skills with large data sets (CTEs, merge statements, stored procedures, UDFs, query optimization, multi-table joins, views/materialized views, computed columns, indexes, mornalization, temp tables)
• Ability to take large requests and break them down into smaller iterative chunks
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to function with imperfect data
• Able to take business logic definition and translate into scalable SQL scripts and structures
