About the Behavioral Scientist at Headspace:

Headspace is looking for a Senior Behavioral Scientist to join our growing Science Team. You will apply your expertise in behavior change as part of a cross-functional team to help Headspace deliver on our vision to improve the health and happiness of the world, and specifically our efforts provide relief to people with chronic conditions. 

Reporting to the Director of Behavioral Science, this individual will collaborate primarily with the Headspace Health team. Headspace Health, the digital health subsidiary of Headspace, is pioneering new ways to incorporate mindfulness into digital medicine to help people better manage chronic health conditions.

The Senior Behavioral Scientist (Health) helps guide content, product, service innovation as we delight members with engaging, evidence-based interventions that guide and support them in applying mindfulness to improve their health. The role involves internal cross-functional collaboration and may include involvement in external research collaborations with academic and enterprise partners. 

Location: This role is open to remote employees in select US states: California, New York, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Maryland + Washington DC, North Carolina and Washington. 

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

  • Be the voice of behavioral science on a cross-functional product and content team working together to create evidence-based, engaging experiences for our members 
  • Guide a cross-functional team to design digitally-delivered health interventions that supports durable positive effects on health and related outcomes 
  • Work with cross functional teams collaboratively to launch new and existing interventions into clinical trials
  • Design and implement standard processes for sourcing and sustainably integrating clinical key opinion leaders (KOLs) into intervention development and evaluation
  • Assist with literature reviews, survey construction, interview design and delivery, and experimental design to inform evidence-based product and content development
  • Facilitate hands-on workshops with a cross-functional team focused on applied behavior science and intervention design 
  • Work with our Service Design, Health Guide, and Product teams to ensure end-to-end member experiences leverage behavioral science in the right ways at the right moments 
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design and implement quantitative validation studies in service of enhancing clinical effect and/or engagement with digitally-delivered health interventions 
  • Be, in your own right, an authentic expert in principles and mechanisms of health behavior change, and apply your knowledge of behavioral science to identify opportunities for content/product innovation
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of academic research and market trends related to mindfulness, stress, and wellbeing
  • Enhance organizational understanding of evidence-based health behavior change 
  • Collaborate with science team to translate HSH intervention components to consumer and B2B offerings where applicable 
  • Provide consultation and tactical support to healthcare GTM team

What you’ve accomplished:

  • Experience creating digital products and/or services that improve end users’ health and wellbeing outcomes
  • Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral theories and methodologies (ideal candidate has a Master’s Degree (or higher) in psychology, social work, behavioral science, or closely related field)
  • Comfort working in a healthcare environment, for example consulting with physicians and other healthcare professionals as part of a product development process 
  • Comfort working in an early- or mid-stage company; readily adaptable to changing market and organizational requirements
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
  • Ideal candidate has 3+ years experience in digital health/therapeutics, biotech/pharma or related industry setting, and understands the unique commercial and regulatory considerations relevant to launching digital products in healthcare
