About Light Iron:

Light Iron is the post production creative-services division of the Panavision group, with facilities across North America and remote services available globally. The filmmakers and studios behind feature films, television and streaming series, and more turn to Light Iron for the company’s advanced tools, innovative workflows, and bespoke solutions designed to enhance creative collaboration throughout the imaging chain.

Job Scope:

The Data Verification operator is an integral part of the Data department, overseeing the archive and verification of tapes written by Light Iron, as well as data restores for VFX pulls & conform turnovers. Candidates should already have at least a solid understanding of the skills listed below.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with excellent attention to detail, troubleshooting abilities, technical aptitude, and people skills. A successful candidate must be able to handle tasks concurrently and quickly switch priorities as needed. This is an experienced-level post production position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data verification of final archives of camera negative both delivered from set and archived in-house
  • Restore selected material from existing LTO archives for VFX pulls and conform turnovers
  • Communicate with in-house and on-set technicians to address issues and resolve them
  • Archive final picture master deliverables to a variety of client specifications/formats, including cloud and LTO tape, ensuring they follow client spec sheets
  • Track incoming requests and ensure they are completed in a timely manner
  • Manage online media storage across SANs and NASs
  • Report/track bugs and crashes of software/hardware
  • Test new software and hardware
  • Work alongside team to develop workflows, suggest changes, and maintain efficiency
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Understanding of digital cinema cameras and their production and post-production workflows
  • Understanding of checksum hashes
  • Understanding of general computer networking
  • Experience in Mac environments, including *nix command-line interaction
  • Experience with YoYottaID
  • Experience with LTO and LTFS
  • Experience with simple bash scripting preferred
  • Comfort learning new and proprietary software
  • Understanding of data transfer hardware (hard drives, data cables, LTOs, HDCAMs, etc.)
  • Experience with file sharing software (Media Shuttle, Aspera, PIX, Frame IO, Dropbox, etc.)
  • Experience with productivity and project management software (Google Apps, Slack, Trello, Farmer’s Wife, etc.)
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Comfortable working alone for extended periods

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This job operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Prompt and regular attendance is required, employees are expected to begin work at the start of their scheduled shift and to complete their assigned work shift according to the responsibilities of their position.

This position works in office with some option for remote work and may require long hours and occasional weekend work.

This is a temporary full-time position. 

Travel:

Travel for this position is not expected, but in rare cases some out-of-state and overnight travel is possible.

Compensation:

$21.00 to $24.00 per hour
